This was kinda the feeling when cell phones with camera came out, suddenly most people were walking around with a camera but now it’s the norm. We got comfortable with it now it’s kind of cool and useful. But I feel this is a bridge too far. I hope society doesn’t get comfortable being watched 24/7.

I so needed to see this and order some. My daughter just bought a pair of Ugg’s with her money and 1st time she wears them she spills cat food juice on them. Not a lot but enough for a full dramatic wailing episode. I blotted/sprinkled baking soda then set them in the sun. Need this!

That’s nice! It’s a topographic map from the early 1960’s. I’ve used some cropped images from this map to map jewelry and ornaments over the years. There’s so many cool things in it when you really look closely. I’m a big map nerd.

I get it. After going hard all week preparing for a Halloween party, cooking, carpool and all the other stuff all I can do today is lay in bed. I missed a friends funeral and I feel terrible, I just physically couldn’t do it. Later this week I’m going to bring some food to the family.

I hope their mortgage lenders/landlords, utilities are working with federal workers allowing them a fee free deferment. Even still gas, groceries, childcare and daily expenses add up quickly. It’s crazy this shutdown has gone on this long. If it extends into deep holidays it will get very ugly.

I was recently thinking this would be a great time to support Jamaican restaurants in the area. There’s a good chance the owners have family or connections there and dining at their establishments is a small way to show support after the storm.

It was apparently an actual photo from the Vatican taken this last summer when they were selecting the new pope. It gives strong Sopranos vibes. Love it!

OP thanks for asking around, I love the tangent this thread wandered off into!😆 I will probably make my Halloween party
gumbo with traditional roux this time and will experiment later with a smaller batch with a smaller audience. Will post results!

Im planning to make gumbo for Halloween (my kids are having some friends over) so it will be a big pot. I will probably just stick to what I know this time and experiment later with a smaller batch when it’s just family. Thanks for your input!

Another stage like sautéing your trinity? Would you add additional oil/butter? Less time standing at the stove is a bonus but I don’t want to sacrifice quality. Please share your experiences! 🥘

I have a gumbo question. I am a purist and have only made it from scratch with an oil/flour roux. I’m considering toasting the flour in the oven as I’ve heard that a good way to make a roux with less oil. Has anyone else tried this? How did you like it? Do you add any oil/butter at another 1/2

People spending less money at grocery stores bc their snap is suspended is a big hit for the economy. This time of year especially, stores have increased inventory expecting people to start shopping for holiday items. I’m glad they did something and I hope the govt opens back up by Dec.

Is it just me or does this seem incredibly tone deaf to feature this luxury property for sale when millions in this state are genuinely panicking over how they will put food on the table next month with SNAP being suspended. I know the world can’t stop because of the problems of a few but this?!

I would say an example of bucking tradition would be having enchiladas for Thanksgiving dinner as opposed to turkey (which personally I am completely in favor of). What DT is doing is an impeachable offense which he seems to collect like comic books.
