Hello dear Automattic-Team,

My apologies in advance for my English, as it is not my native language.
I am contacting you because of concerns about your investor relationship with Bluesky.

I am a Bluesky user and have a front seat in the current safety moderation crisis that especially the CEO, Jay, is responsible for. For the past weeks and months, the moderation team of Bluesky is failing to protect its vulnerable user base of marginalized groups such as trans people, people of color and sex workers. All who were some of the earliest adopters of the site, while bending Terms of Service to allow hateful people like JD Vance and Jesse Singal to avoid consequences altogether. Those TOS are not being enforced when it comes to such people who spread harmful misinformation, harassment and encouragement of violence towards trans people. Meanwhile, trans people and POC who voice their opinions about the Bluesky moderation and its CEOs and point out the abuse of TOS, are getting permanently banned and shut down.

We users are angry about this unfair treatment and tried everything to appeal for change, but instead of hearing people out and taking their concerns seriously, the CEO Jay is unable to take the criticism and instead openly mocks her user base, calls them harassers who "don't pay her anyway" and keeps on hiding any voices against her while earning the applause of people like Singal.

I have been made aware that your company is a major investor in Bluesky, and that your company values empathy.
I honestly don't think that you will find that empathy in a company such as Bluesky as it failed time and time again to demonstrate it.
The app is also tanking in reviews because of Jay's behavior and the unfair ToS; the score on Google Play went from 3.4 to 1.4 within weeks. With that in mind, I question whether it is wise to continue your investment. An unstable company head and an angry user base does not sound like a sustainable business venture.

People are already migrating to Mastodon and deleting their accounts. If this goes on, it will become a sinking ship real soon.
