Also quite funny is his account of attending a conference in France with beautiful music and liturgy and food and the German Dominicans attending unable to enjoy anything because obviously German culture / food is better

Hildebrand goes on to talk about how bizarre it was to see Catholic intellectuals base their opinion of Nazism on whether or not Nazis were polite or flattering to them rather than on the merits of actual Nazi ideology

Reading Dietrich Von Hildebrand’s memoir about his resistance to Nazism. He relates his horror at the VP of the Catholic Academic Association rejoicing that he had a polite note from the Nazi government commending a conference, because the prior government “would never have bothered to do the same”
