Æthelstan, arguably first King of England, died at #Gloucester #OnThisDay in 939, 'about 41 years, except one day' after his grandfather #KingAlfred. Buried at #MalmesburyAbbey, his remains were later lost. His (empty) C15 tomb survives. #Athelstan #Wiltshire

Two suspects arrested in Paris on Saturday evening (25 October) in connection with the theft of royal jewels from the Louvre a week ago.

One arrest reportedly made at Charles de Gaulle airport.

There is still much speculation but no hard news about the fate of the jewels.

#HillfortsWednesday oldie but Goldie!

This is British Camp in the Malvern Hills, an Iron Age hillfort built in 4 phases during the 1st millennium BC. The hillfort had 4 gateways and was populated by dozens of hut circles.
