Two renderings for the same plot of land, 50+ years apart
I see your plan and propose an addition to it. I’m sick of riding around that dumb GM factory.
Highways have taken (and continue to take) so much from us. You can see the old Western Market across Michigan Avenue in the first image, and the hospital in the second.
This week’s video dives into the history between the 1890s and today on the plot of land where Detroit City FC plans to demolish the Southwest Detroit Hospital and build a brand new 15,000-seat stadium. Check it out: youtu.be/LGrpu5bnH4A

I guess I have to go again soon then 😂
You thought that I’d go to the Pupusería y Restaurante Salvadoreño and not share it on Bluesky? Really? You thought wrong.

This week’s video is on Frank’s Hall in Detroit’s Delray neighborhood, which dates back to 1887 and housed Fox Hardware for decades. Today, it’s home to one of the only active businesses in Delray. Check it out: youtu.be/J_4Nokk6sro

The older I get the more I fucking love water shoes. I use them ALL the time 😂
I simply can’t imagine running for pleasure in Delray because of the smell, let alone the pollution. I LOVE seeing the new infrastructure there, but it almost seems irresponsible to promote outdoor activities in one of Michigan's most polluted zip codes.
This is probably my favorite drone clip so far. I didn’t include it in tomorrow’s YouTube video, but this building is the topic of the video. Hopefully, I’ll include some drone shots in next week’s video. This is a 1080p export so that the file could be uploaded to #Detroit Bluesky.
Getting a group together to cost-share this and lend it to different neighborhoods would be very cool.
The new drone certainly isn’t good in low light, but I think I’ll have a lot of fun with this thing. In frame: St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in #Detroit, built 1918~1930, closed in 1989, reopened as St. Augustine and St. Monica Catholic Church in 1990. Designed by Donaldson and Meier.
If you did that 52 weeks per year, that’s a difference of 1,289.6 miles and over 95 hours of commuting per year.
That’s a difference of 24.8 miles and just under 2 hours of commuting time per week.
Here’s the difference between taking the ‘safe’ route using greenways and taking 'less safe' surface streets in #Detroit that are already wide enough to accommodate bike infrastructure (but don’t) from my home to work.
I came into possession of a drone. The first thing I did with it? Flew it into a wall. GET. ON. MY. LEVEL. (it survived, don't worry)
Off topic, but Karen is an absolute treasure. We are lucky to have her!
This new multi-use path in Delray alongside Jefferson is SO lovely. Can we please do this along every spoke street in the city?! This one only exists because of the new bridge; this is one of the least populated corners of #Detroit
Also, the Paluch family was Polish
Also, the sign on the front is gone. It went a few weeks ago.
How you just gonna take my photos like that though 😂 YOU KNOW ME THROUGH THE INTERNET
Honestly, that's barely cheaper than the Pupusería y Restaurante Salvadoreño on Livernois. I think they're a little under $4 a pop there, and you can get all different kinds 👀 pork with cheese is my favorite!
They keep SUPER well, so buying in bulk might be the move 😂
