My contributor's copy of NIGHTMARE ABBEY 9 has arrived! The pet gargoyle says it tastes lovely.

I went over to Stirling this morning, parked and happened to notice a little stone building housing St. Ninian's Well. You can read about it via this link. A notice said "Welcome to St. Ninian's Well" but you aren't particularly welcome as it's locked up.

I know that cover image story! It's Die Schwarze Spinne (The Black Spider).

About 70 pages of MOBY DICK to go, and then I think I'll tackle this new arrival!

Went into Glasgow last night to meet a friend. The train back was full of very very drunk football fans. Luckily they were amiable drunk football fans. Three of them insisted on shaking my hand, and one offered me a packet of crisps.

I had a bacon and chilli jam sandwich at my desk for breakfast and since then everything is subtly sticky and in spite of the extensive use of two wet wipes I keep finding tiny bits of chilli.

That's just horrible. I'm so sorry.

This was my church when I was growing up (sorry about the tiny pic, it was the only one I could find). I gazed at that mural over the arch for hours. The Passion of Christ, where He is shown with his hands over his face, often recurs to me. Donkey's butt also visible, bottom left.

Reading for Hallowe'en or Christmas! Just a wee reminder that you can still buy Supernatural Tales 54, which included my Christmas horror story "Nábrók".

Back home from Arran. We had some sunshine and some rain, which is an improvement on this year's visits to Skye, Lewis, Harris, Mull and Iona, on all of which it pissed it down mightily.

They do say that if you can't decide between option A and option B, you should go for option C. Maybe she needs to walk right out of the novel and into ARMADALE, where she could marry Ozias Midwinter.

I agree with the other commenter about the white saviour attitudes etc. But I do feel Jane's horrible dilemma over this. And could she trust Rochester again after he's told her a humungous porkie?

Oooh, interesting issue. In at least one film adaptation I've seen, St. John has been so unlovely that it would be no contest. In the book... well, I've often mused on how difficult it would be for Jane because St. John is so ludicrously good looking. I'd be tempted.

Towards evening we also went to see the King's Caves. We didn't have very long there as it was getting very close to nightfall.
Exterior of the King's Cave. There is an opening in the cliff face with a caged entrance over it. View of the caged entrance from inside. Helen Grant and v small dog in a dark cave

Yesterday we went to see the "Giants' Graves", actually the remains of two large chambered Cairns. This was on the Isle of Arran.
Neolithic stones and small dog (long-haired Chihuahua). The stones are parallel. Neolithic stones. I think this was the entrance to a chambered cairn. Neolithic stones and small dog
