That was an era in which the government trampled roughshod over agreements they never intended to uphold and had to be forced to (begrudgingly) abide by centuries after the fact.

It's a shameful part of American history and one that the nation has *never*, in good faith, attempted to make up for.

One country plays the victim while being subsidized to an absurd extent by the US, violently subjugation, beating, and killing people in the territories it occupies. All of it without recourse.

It is deeply infuriating to see Israel learned all the worst lessons from the US's manifest destiny era.

5 Broken Cameras put a spotlight on the West Bank and quietly stuck with me. When news of American police forces getting training from the IOF started to come to light (around 2014 :[ guess what happened that year in the US) it wasn't surprising.

My own background: I am American Indian (through my dad's side of the family being White Earth Ojibwe and Nebraska Winnebago) and Hispanic.

My dad taught me a lot about history and to ask questions. How else do you learn?

I have strong opinions on a lot of matters and I totally get that I am not for everyone.

When I was going to university, I recall seeing 5 Broken Cameras on campus film and there was a subsequent discussion about the heinous crap that the "modern" state of Israel puts the West Bank through.

Comment period ends Oct 20 and the comments so far OVERWHELMINGLY favor adding checkpoints for voter registration. please if you have a moment go in and comment that adding barriers to registration only contributes to voter suppression, and that noncitizens already can’t vote.
