People who have worked in the service industry know that universal health care would make their lives easier. This industry is a crucial part of Oregon, and what can make life here worth living. Unfortunately, these industries are not always able to provide health care coverage.
This is Kimber, a social worker with Multnomah County, and a volunteer with the Portland Chapter of HCAO. We caught up during the Portland Chapter's first Plant Bingo, in early October, raising money, and connecting with folks in Portland about our state's transition to universal health care.
The Jeremy Wilson Foundation provides support to musicians and music industry workers in Oregon and Clark County, Washington as they navigate health-related challenges.

Through the Musician Health & Services Program provided over $35,000 in financial assistance to local musicians in 2024.

Bend and Portland TURNED OUT for No Kings this past Saturday. We talked to hundreds of people about Oregon's work towards universal health care, shared stories about why it's important for us, and stood in solidarity against authoritarianism.

Navigating our healthcare system can feel like a maze.

It might seem like a maze, with no easy turn that brings you to affordable, consistent health care.

Oregon has a chance to be the first state to move to universal health care.

We obviously think that it's time for a sea change. We all know that we have the most expensive healthcare system in the world, and have the worst outcomes of any other wealthy nation.

Universal Health Care can save money, and save lives.
We were so grateful to be surrounded by a community of healthcare providers, reform advocates, and patients at our fourth and will garden party.

Here is one perspective from a pediatric optometrist who shared her story with us. When health care is accessible, then you have better health outcomes.
People have different reasons for supporting the work of HCAO, and for supporting the concept of a universal healthcare system.

Aaron believes we shouldn't have barriers like language, finances, or where somebody is from getting in the way of people getting their healthcare that they need.
