Remember, it’s only a starter pack if it comes from the Start region of France, otherwise it’s just a sparkling echo chamber

Something I only discovered a few years ago - free membership of the City of London's Barbican Library (you only need a UK address) gives you *remote* access to a great range of online resources - inc BNA (altho offline today) & other newspaper databases 😃

It's entirely not the point, but how do you do italics in a BlueSky post?

The world celebrates as the Gaza peace deal is signed - but when is the time to question 𝘸𝘩𝘺 the war dragged on for so long?

I've got an A level English - do I get a special stamp in my passport for being extra British?

Here's a #HigherEducationPostcard of @uniofsurrey.bsky.social

This is in Guildford; its ancestor, Battersea Polytechnic, was in London

Well over 50%

Did they specify whether the A level was English Language or English Literature, or could it be either, do you think?

Language can be a really divisive issue in Wales
hbsj.bsky.social
I know why they've chosen the image, but if you associate the English language with the English flag (and by extension the Welsh language with the Welsh Flag) then you're alienating most Welsh people, who speak English but who do not identify(obviously) as English

My dad, who used to work there, said that @sheffieldhallamuni.bsky.social, when it was choosing its university name in the early 1990s, considered becoming Sheffield Bassetts University, after the local firm of confectioners

Can anyone stand this up? Bertie Bassett gowns would have been magnificent

I knew a university librarian who said they had to chuck books out in the cover of darkness, because if they did it in daylight/work hours, one or two particular professors would walk around removing books from bins and putting them back on shelves!

‘96% of healthcare professionals said the model helps to reduce children’s anxiety, and 46% reported a lesser need to use sedation after the children played with the set.‘

‘Lego doesn’t sell the sets and instead has donated more than 10,000 of the kits to hospitals around the world.’

Here's a #HigherEducationPostcard to chime in with @lselibrary.bsky.social's thread: its a postcard from 2017 advertising an earlier exhibition - I guess when the library acquired the GLF archive?
An old colour picture postcard advertising an exhibition at LSE Library. The Exhibition is called "Glad to be gay: the struggle for legal equality" and the image shows a photograph of a ?1970s demonstration walking past Piccadilly Circus, one person holding a placard saying "Glad to be gay"

Did you know that the first football world cup was meant to be in 1928 but they couldn't agree where to play it?
