i just found 3 more 😭 they're very easy to catch once they settle on the windows. from a cursory glance, i'm 90% sure they're males that got kicked out of the nest now that it's cold. i don't like it!!

i just texted my landlord to see if any other units had this issue. if it's just me, that narrows down half the house at least. last year, i thought they were coming through gaps in my old wood windows, but i had to get all the windows replaced this winter, so i'm at a loss. 😞

WE ARE UP TO 15 YELLOW JACKETS OVER A COUPLE OF WEEKS 😭 i was woken up by two of them buzzing loudly around my orchid grow lights. howwww are they getting inside 😭😭😭😭 (i catch and release, but it's getting annoying)

i get a handful in my house every year around this time - usually dead or in the process of dying. they don't freak me out because i know they're not here for me. but this one was SO BIG and very alive. noooo thanks!!! 🙅‍♀️

(in my defense, the tofu felt weird, kinda slimy, and i *do* know how to cook tofu, so i just didn't felt right about it in the end. it wasn't just because i couldn't see an expiry date)

my mental health is way better than it was a few years ago, btw. i don't think it's unreasonable to be a bit wary of food that has probably been divided and repackaged for distribution, and then sat out on a stoop for a few hours. but i also do know that i take that caution to an insane level lol

it was just a trial... i thought it could help me get in the habit of cooking again, but i cancelled my remaining weeks. the effort it takes to talk myself around my ocd (suspected)/anxiety (diagnosed) isn't worth the mediocre meals it helps me create. 🤷‍♀️
