And my favorite detail from the actual story is never in any of the adaptations: his desperation to get pure drug samples to recreate his formula, and when he finally did, he realized that the formula that worked must've had an impurity. Meaning he would never know, and never be able to recreate it.

I love Jekyll & Hyde. The original story is so short, there's hardly anything to it - yet it has spawned a billion adaptations, from Bugs Bunny to Broadway, all with characters and scenes that are nowhere to be found in the original story.
