realization: english is the language i *can* use to be more honest to myself because: 1- it doesn't have a lot of the baggage that, being the growing language, portuguese carries in my soul, *and* 2- it was the language that *i* decided to learn because i wanted to talk with computers better ☺️

chatgpt? whatever. I’m giving myself internet psychosis the old fashioned way: finding an unhinged individual and falling down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out whatever tf they’re doing
gureito.bsky.social
in one of these two ways there's a non-trivial chance of a person actually finding themselves in the search, and it is not chatgpt. /shrugs

respirators are means of liberation; maintaining health by protecting our lungs from airborne irritants, be they allergens, smoke, pathogens.

this modern, multi-use tool is the thing you’re looking for. it shows others, as we go about our days, that things are not normal, that they could be better.

normalize respirators in your daily life. when you do, when you see the choice to use a personal air filter as more akin to sunglasses (worn by all, often for fashion regardless of ocular welfare) than, say, a cast (indicative of active health concerns, often not a choice), all around you benefit.

For one more day, my new book Star Sword Nemesis is 10% off its normal price of $5! On the edge of the solar system, a group of dreamers and believers in human transcendence fight against the tyranny of the Earth Sphere, to protect the Voyager 1 probe that NASA sent into the stars so many years ago.

^_^

yeah, i kinda know that. one day i will convince myself that it's ok to just go for it. it even looks like it will be this year 🤷

i suffer from kinda reverse peer-pressure re: ds9...

i can't bring myself to watch it, because i have this idea that i will compare it to babylon 5 and like babylon 5 more --pretty sure, actually-- and then i will not know how to face all the cool people that really like ds9.

yeah, it's stupid.

My counterpoint to "if you're bouncing off of it, stop reading it" is that it took me about three or four chapters for Gideon the Ninth to click for me.

But!

That was a book I bought because of all the fan art and memes and so forth bubbling in my timeline. So it's kind of an exception.

i never push through unless its expected reading for a class or talk or something. but i --usually-- do give more chances at future times. i have books that took a decade to finally click for me, and i love that i gave them the time for it.

yet, some went to the donation pile by the opening page.

It's actually totally fine to dislike a book but also acknowledge it is not "utter trash" "overrated" "degenerate" "ruined the concept of fiction for me" or whatever

Be kind to others and yourself.

Make video games accessible.

coming across this one today got the thought stuck in my mind that yes, there's **so** much more that accessibility can mean to games. bsky.app/profile/thin...
