"Heat-trapping carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere jumped by the highest amount on record last year, soaring to a level not seen in human civilization and “turbo-charging” the Earth’s climate and causing more extreme weather, the United Nations weather agency said Wednesday."

We don't have a mask rule because we're "afraid".

You can't imagine the courage it takes to protect ourselves--when MSM and public dialogue don't just disdain but actively vilify us for protecting ourselves in! public! Ugh!

We don't have a mask rule because we don't understand the science.

We have a mask rule because we DO understand the growing body of evidence that covid can affect heart, brain, and more.

We have this rule because one of us already has life-changing #LongCovid and doesn't want you to experience it.

Another reason we mask: so we don't miss work.

I've been sick once in five years.

(It was OG Omicron, and it laid me out for almost a month. I'm not interested in repeating that.)

Before 2020, I used to miss a day at least twice each year due to respiratory infections. I'm fine with ending that.

US research:

"COVID-19 may have created a new year-round baseline for work absences...similar to influenza season conditions before the pandemic"

jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

"Policymakers should consider...policies & actions that mitigate the spread of #COVID19"

#LongCovid #CovidIsNotOver
Key Points
Question Following the COVID-19 pandemic, has SARS-CoV-2 circulation been associated with health-related absences from work and labor force exits?

Findings In this nationally representative cohort study of approximately 158.4 million workers, rates of health-related work absences remained elevated after the pandemic and were associated with circulating SARS-CoV-2 and subsequent decreases in labor force participation by absence-affected workers.

Meaning These findings suggest that COVID-19 may have created a new year-round baseline for work absences that is similar to influenza season conditions before the pandemic; policymakers should consider expanding interventions and data collection efforts to address the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the labor force.

I'm not appealing to your virtue.

I'm not begging you to accommodate some kind of delusional phobia.

I'm not putting this damn thing on my face because I feel like it.

I am somebody's child, somebody's spouse, somebody's parent--and I won't cringe and waffle about protecting them.

No.

Our mask requirement is not "virtue signalling".

It's protecting a) the cancer patient and b) the child who is still too small to wear a mask.

And also--and I can't emphasize this strongly enough--you.

“Since the game went on sale last week for $50, there have been 25 purchases, none yet from American buyers.”

Perhaps it’s less fun when it is actively happening to you?

I would love for them to do a Doug Ford’s Ontario version though, and I L😍OVE that they want to “Make Boardgames Great Again”!

They really are quite good and come in a wide range of sizes. They even have a lasagna pan size with a clip on lid which is so great for travel if you bring food places.

Yes nor I though they used to sell silicone thing you can set on top & avoid splatter. I fear it was discontinued-was nice as just the right size & saved space over the conventional splatter dome type things. I’m ok with these plastic snap lids as seem to not break. Also sell bamboo but less secure.

Yup-my mother,-her brother also in body cast-my brother fairly mild-another uncle less severe but now basically doubled over-my niece-surgery-so far my own kids have escaped it but time will tell. Mine’s worsened I learned recently. Used to be ‘mild’ now ‘moderate’. Trying to suppress more change.

interesting. My dance teachers noted my hips and shoulders not being even and thought initially it was due to backpack worn on one side! That must have been common mythology in those days (for me it was 80s). Maybe didn't help but my mother had had severe scoliosis and wore a body cast for a summer.

I’ve become fascinated with Snow Geese flying down St. Lawrence R these past 2 Thanksgivings. Search suggests sitings in 🇨🇦 from BC-E coast. See no ON mentions but maybe missed something. Anyway was curious why I saw some trace back their path SW & return NE in same morning? Avoiding US situation?😆😞

Unreal. Our fresh water is FAR more valuable than fossil fuels. To be allowed to use it and destroy it FOR fossil fuels is an utter fail.
tzeporah.bsky.social
In 2024 the oil and gas industry paid BC taxpayers $20,000 for fresh water. They used and poisoned 9 Billion litres of fresh water. Fracking companies should not be allowed to do this. If you want to call in the government to stop letting them you can here act.stand.earth/page/89100/a...

Carry a mug! Water bottle too!! Preferably not plastic!

& those cups & plastic film liners are a massive problem as that thin lining creates pervasive microplastic issues that we then are faced with everywhere on planet! Film plastic is worst pervasive plastic but also the cups defy sorting & reuse/compost because of plastic lining -thus more landfill.
grudgingcloud.bsky.social
By now many but not all have got the memo that if they carry a coffee cup it should be metal/glass/ceramic not plastic. And one SHOULD carry one b/c those disposable cups that *seem* biodegradable are lined with plastic that reacts to hot beverages like a plastic tea bag.

And on clothing side opting for and digging around for natural fibres is huge. I remember when we shunned polyester -but fast fashion seems to have brought it back gradually and hoodwinked the average consumer to fully accept it. Despite fact it holds odours & doesn’t insulate well nor breathe!

Yes Ikea is imperfect & you should repurpose & reuse your old plastic for other things but their containers are affordable & sport interchangeable lids. For oven/fridge/carry use they also have metal which is lighter to carry places but same snap on lids that are very secure & durable.
