Why Locally-led is the Key to Successful Land Restoration: Meet Herp Ghana
In Ghana’s most densely populated human settlement, Amedzofe, lies a critically endangered species: The Togo Slippery Frog. Human activities, such as logging, are destroying its habitat. But hope is taking root. Led by Herp Ghana, a community is bent over the land, restoring what’s been lost- tree by tree, row by row, in a bid to reverse the drastic effects of these activities, and hopefully restore their ecosystem.
‘When the trees are preserved our water bodies will never get dried up, nature will thrive, and we will also have good water to drink.’ says one of the farmers.
This is more than reforestation; it is a story of resilience, community, and the will to restore balance between people and planet.
Watch how this small town is making a big difference.
This video story is produced in collaboration with Vision in View Ltd, a creative firm in Ghana.
