Five years ago, I used video of Fernando Torres' Liverpool goals as an example of just how much football has changed. Looking at it now, I think his style of play is coming back in. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywgA...

idk he walked in and froze out ozil. that seemed a big "i'm not like wenger" marker to me.
the arteta project is really evidence that he personally agreed the later wenger teams he played in were "soft".
Kind of remarkable to hear Diego Simeone saying his Atletico Madrid team need to learn from Arsenal how to be "clinical in different phases of the game". The last time he was here you could not have imagined Arsenal being held up as an exemplar of precision for a Simeone team.

yeah you all love jamelle bouie here don’t you. can’t get enough of bouie. can jamelle bouie write a robbie keane joke? can he fuck
two mega expensive strikers and the most in-form player in the world last season, only for the best attacker to be cody gakpo
i'm wondering a lot if richard hughes isn't really aligned with edwards beyond the fact that they're personally friends
i feel like there should be more complex tactical solutions than "bring on all the attackers".

Some game state stuff, xG was even until Chelsea's 2nd goal and then they sat back. But Forest missed a couple enormous chances in the 1st half.
you ever read an article that annoyed you so much you're going to have to do a whole newsletter talking about why it's wrong
alas, i found a different way to phrase it that improved clarity anyway
do i hate myself enough to rewrite a sentence because it has a split infinitive
someone arrest me for crimes against metaphors
what's welsh for "ah, well, nevertheless".

My entire career.
Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?
yeah. i think a big part is that the spanish squad that won things made an effort to address this, xavi and casillas famously friends who tried to bring everyone together. but if they could do it (at height of clasico nastiness with mou vs pep), anyone can.
he didn't invent that nickname. some random person online did and it grew organically. it's about him but it doesn't belong to him.
Chelsea and England playmaker Cole Palmer has successfully trademarked the term ‘Cold Palmer’.

Palmer’s application, submitted to the UK government’s Intellectual Property Office in November, was approved on Friday.

bit weird that england specifically would have this. it's not like spain where one club rivalry rooted in cultural divides dominates everything. it's not like belgium where people don't natively speak the same language.
i mean, yeah, but this is hardly a unique problem at international level. but the sides that won trophies often addressed it head on and found ways to get everyone on the same page. it just went ignored at england.
Former England captain Steven Gerrard has described sometimes “hating” international duty and claimed star players being “egotistical losers” damaged the side’s chances of success.

obviously not as important as the tactical issues etc etc

absolutely love it when foul throws are called tbh. elite professionals failing to follow the most basic of rules. always funny.
If everybody’s gonna do long throws then we’re gonna have to end the gentleman’s agreement on not calling foul throws.
frimpong right wing in front of szoboszlai right back is the most benitez tactical move liverpool have done since 2010.
