What you've missed if you aren't reading The Word:
• Accessibility as journalism's overlooked key to public trust
• Analysis of how the Pentagon's policy already started affecting reporters' work
• The progress media has and hasn't made on women's health issues.
The Word, a magazine from the EAPM Style and Accessibility Guide
What's happening in journalism? What's important in style and accessibility? We've got The Word on all that and more.

Karoline Leavitt should resign.

They try to make us hate each other to distract from the fact that they're robbing us all blind.

It's sick.
Leavitt: "The Democrat Party's main constituency is made up of Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals."

Been a wonky year this year, emotionally, health wise, work wise & financially so it’s lovely to see that I’ve had a couple of lovely people purchasing prints of this, feels like I’m getting back on my feet. Getting more prints in soon. Visit nicktankard.co.uk for info. I also have an Etsy shop 👍🏻
A black pen in a crosshatch technique and printing ink applied with a rubber roller on white paper Illustration of a large Victorian house situated on a small island surrounded by a misty estuary. A track or causeway leads up the house, long damp grass and seaweed either side of it, cart tracks visible in the damp muddy track. The house has many dark windows, chimneys and a porch at the front of the building, it is tall and imposing and sits awkwardly in the landscape. A lone figure in a long coat stands in front of the house. A streaky grey sky above and a thin mist is rolling across the island. Atmospheric and eerie.

I am enjoying this book and the way it feels, for me, like an [un]comfortable sink back into the warm waters of chewing over complex and interwoven issues in long-form. What struck me here, though, was the difference in UK and US covers!
UK cover of Fara Dabhoiwala's "What is Free Speech? The History of a Dangerous Idea," which unlike the minimalist US design has an early 19th (late 18th?) century colorful illustration of people trampling one another, flyers/pamphlets in hand

Julian Brave Noisecat has a new book coming out in Oct. You may know of his work? His film, Sugarcane, was an Oscar nominated documentary about Indian Boarding Schools. I am still rattled by what they saw in the basement. That's trauma no kid gets over.

We Survived the Night releases 10.14.25.
