It was nice meeting you at Brooklyn Horror Fest. And yes, I did enjoy Boorman and the Devil!
Past week at Brooklyn Horror Fest was all bangers.

#lastfourwatched
Yes! I learned that this week when I did three days of that back to back. Bad idea.
I saw Charisma on what I suspect was a bootleg, as the video quality was kind of muddy. It's one of those films I wanted to give a second chance if I could see a nicer version. Looks like I'll get that chance soon!

(Oh and Cloud rules, I assume Criterion will put that out as well)
***ANNOUNCEMENT***

Coming on January 26th on Blu-ray in the UK from #EurekaEntertainment as part of their #MastersOfCinema line: #Cloud / #Charisma: Two Films by #KiyoshiKurosawaw (2024/1999)!

A revered auteur noted for his deliberate pacing and haunting, methodical style,
Odd pick for Shudder, but I'm glad they're showing it. I don't think I heard of a US wider release (I bought the Third Window release). I saw it at Japan Society as well, really liked it.
You are such a wonderful source for figuring out what new Asian horror on Netflix is worth our time. Thank you!
Every night this dude looks like he's partied even harder than the night before.

More obvious ones ... The Babadook, The Substance, Raw/Titane, Saint Maud, American Psycho

Dark horse suggestions .. Ghostwatch, In My Skin
I'm very tempted to double dip for this version and seeing your name in the credits for the book is one of the reasons.
Dude was fascinating during the CFF watch party for this, I expect this will be quite fun to read.
Hey ho! I’m doing a Reddit AMA today at 2 pm ET (8 pm CET)!
I’ll be hanging out, answering your questions about my films, art projects, weird stories from set, or anything else you’re curious about.

There's heated talk about "suspected" AI in a current release that's in one shot of a film. And people think horror fans will embrace someone who brags about it?
Oh hell yeah, I'm preordering that shit. I've appreciated all your insights into this during Chattanooga Film Fest. A commentary would rule.
I think it's meant to be Lockjaw, especially as the camera focus on her abruptly cuts short when he catches Bob groping her and she smiles back at Bob.
I've bought previous editions and they're beautifully crafted. New one just came out!

FFS. If we aren't waiting for the movie to do reveals, this would have been way cooler as a Fangoria cover.
I've never heard of this and I'm immediately intrigued. Thanks for putting this on our radars!
That's fair! For what it's worth, I saw a screenshot of the CGI in question and don't think your critique is unreasonable. Maybe the filmmakers will clarify.
I saw some rumblings that there might be films using AI currently making the festival rounds, but it's just been a vague post or two, nothing calling out a particular movie. Glad you articulated your concerns, I get bummed finding out after I see a film that AI art was involved.
My review for the folk horror film Tilbury was that it was a PSA against mediocre chocolate
Yeah our library system dropped Kanopy because it was too expensive. Luckily they do have Hoopla which has a wealth of indie films I can't get elsewhere.
Mostly hate em, especially since they are mostly done with loud music. Occasionally there will be a "visual only" jump scare and I can appreciate those. But I've mostly learned to hold my ears to alleviate the discomfort of a jump scare while still being able to watch the film.
My mom used to regularly drink diluted orange juice and I've picked up that habit in seltzer form. Like, a finger or two worth of lemonade/juice into a pint glass of seltzer has been my go to when I don't need caffeine.
