For new folks joining, there's no Algorithm here, it's strictly who you follow on your main feed, so my advice:

* Follow liberally (by the time I see somebody a few times, I'll usually drop them a follow)
* Block even faster (life's too short to give your limited attention to assholes)
Thank you. I appreciate hearing from folks who are knowledgeable in the space. I stand corrected. 🙂

It's interesting seeing how new advances in tech either upend existing rules or fall under them.

My solidarity with trans people isn’t at odds with Reproductive Justice — it’s integral to it.

I will keep using inclusive language. I will keep including trans people in my work.

Our liberation is bound together.
Are you coming along?

Exactly. Had he, anytime in the last decade, gotten it covered or removed, then taken steps over years to oppose the fascism the symbol represents? Survivable. Senator Byrd figured it out after he left the Klan and spent 70 years trying to destroy it.

Now, while he's in the race? Too late. 🤷‍♂️
Funny enough, the Resolution path to name someone else who can swear her in that requires 218 votes is the same number required to vacate the chair, which would be one helluva shot across Johnson's bow. 😂🍿
As someone whose political awakening started in the 90s, it feels weird to say, but I fully agree with Rick Wilson and his book title "Everything Trump Touches Dies"

BREAKING NEWS: We just asked a court to dismiss a Marion County lawsuit over sanctuary laws.

Oregon law is straightforward, and the Ninth Circuit has already ruled that there is no conflict between our sanctuary law and federal law.
The prime example of this is Tucker Carlson, scion of the Schwan's food delivery fortune. He had money and connections, so they assumed he had talent and worthwhile views to share.
Damn butterflies and their flapping wings...
I hope folks are keeping track of all of these disappearing messages, because holy Presidential Records Act and related archival requirements violations, Batman!

Any politician who utters the phrase "Look forward, not back" in the next two electoral cycles gets sent to the cornfield. ➡️ Never again
Exactly. If I had more-than-my-great-grandchildren-could-spend kinds of money, I'd also sponsor a bunch of things like archeological digs on the condition that I get to come play, too, occasionally, and the lessons be shared with the rest of humanity.

These current billionaires lack imagination.

as Alasdair Grey put it, "work as if you lived in the early days of a better nation." Today, that often feels like being in the morbid interregnum. But you should write as if you were a citizen with an interest in a healthy, fair, and free government.
None of these are things the good doctor can fix on his own, but each of them is doable if whoever has the access would expend some effort to reduce user-pain. 🤷‍♂️ It doesn't have to suck.
I dunno, this sounds like an ordering problem to me. I see three fixes:

* Automatically connect to the VPN
* Fire one service to connect, *then* everything else
* Rewrite each of the VPN-requiring services to check if there's a VPN connection, then wait if there's not, checking every second or so
Makes me wonder if any of the folks who set these startup scripts actually try to use these systems at all. 🤷‍♂️

Computers should serve humans, not the other way around.
Hearing rumors about an AWS us-east-1 outage. I have no idea if this is related to that, but even if it is, leveraging an outage to arm-twist me into upgrading my service is a REALLY shitty look for CenturyLink.

If only my only other option in the region wasn't Comcast's Xfinity. Fuck the duopoly.
Glad I have T-Mobile as a backup for now, but I'm going to need to scramble in the morning to figure out Internet for my kid's homeschooling.

How in the fuck is this considered an acceptable way to treat your customers?! There needs to be consideration for this abuse. This is insane.
Holy shit. What the fucking fuck, CenturyLink?! My Internet connection is disconnected, according to the modem, and your support says the only way to restore it is to upgrade to your new Quantum Fiber service?! *AT 2AM ON A SUNDAY?!* No warning, no outreach, just cut service?! WTF?!
Yep. I've long said my ideal way to go is to catch the first nuke of WW3. Just a flash and I'm ionized atoms and subatomic particles, faster than pain nerve signals can propagate.

Just. Go. POOF.

In the meantime, my goal is to help build a world where that's unimaginable.
There was also the whole "binders full of women" thing that was deeply weird.

Being weird has been the GOP's MO since, geez, Newt Gingrich in the 90s. As an Elder Millennial (or whatever were called 🤷‍♂️), I truly don't remember a normal, responsible GOP, and I'm probably never going to vote for them.

I cannot recommend you enough to install the Wikipedia app on your devices and use it like you would any search engine. Nowadays they even have tabs so you can open many articles at once.

And, if you can, please donate to the foundation. It has survived the internet enshittification that way.
wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...

So many great ideas that are already on the field that could be brought to bear. We fracture to our detriment; borrowing effective ideas from each other is how we win at scale and over the long-term.
One of the most effective tactics I've seen at a picket was a union treasurer with a checkbook/cash talking to people being tricked into scabbing via a gig-work app that didn't mention there was a strike going on, offering to match whatever hourly rate the app offered for the person to just go home.
