Hi! 👋 We're Georgia Equality. If you haven't met us yet, we are Georgia's largest and oldest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization.

We work to advance fairness, safety, & opportunity for all LGBTQ+ Georgians, their allies, and all those living with HIV in the state of Georgia. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️❤️

We're excited to be here!
A crowd of activists are gathered for a group photo in front of a historic Atlanta church before stepping off for the Atlanta Pride parade. The participants hold signs that read 'I support trans youth,' in the pink and blue trans pride colors. Most are wearing white t-shirts with the Georgia Equality logo on them.
A number of critical local races are also on the ballot depending on where you live, so be sure to check out your sample ballot in advance!

All Georgia voters can also double check their registration, find early voting locations, and view their sample ballot at: www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/

Across the state, early voting is now underway for the Public Service Commission (PSC)! The PSC decides GA's energy rates— and they’re up for election this year.

🗳 Early Voting: Oct 13–31
🗳 Election Day: Nov 4

Find critical voting information at: TheGeorgiaVoterGuide.com.
A graphic features the text: "Do you know who regulates your power bill? They're on the ballot this year!" The words “regulates” and “this year!” are in bold orange, while “power bill?” is in bold green. A silhouette of a person in a suit stands connected by power lines to a tall transmission tower, with a shadow of a person lying on the ground. A green arrow line moves upward from the standing figure to the power lines, suggesting rising power costs. At the bottom, it reads: “The Georgia Voter Guide” and “Learn more online at www.TheGeorgiaVoterGuide.com” in a banner. The theme emphasizes the importance of voting in Georgia's Public Service Commission race, a panel which regulates energy prices.

If Congress does not act now to renew Enhanced Premium Tax Credits, it's estimated the cost of insurance premiums in GA could increase by as much as 75% during the open enrollment period.

Access to care crucial for Georgia's most vulnerable
Opinion: Extending tax credits is crucial for healthcare access, especially for LGBTQ+ communities and people living with HIV/AIDS.

While GA Equality works to ensure SB195 can become law this year, all of us must also improve Spanish-language outreach, culturally-competent information, & support for those most at risk.

Our health matters. Our lives matter. Healthcare access shouldn’t be a privilege; it should be a basic right.
(4/5) But there's hope: in early 2025, GA's State Senate passed SB195, a bill to allow trained pharmacists to prescribe PrEP & PEP directly as opposed to needing a doctor to do so. This would be a game changer for accessibility of HIV prevention, especially for communities of color across the state.
🧵 (3/5) One obstacle we face are barriers to accessing HIV prevention medications like PrEP and PEP. Access to healthcare, stigma, language barriers, and fear around immigration status are a few of the many barriers that Latinx people face in accessing prevention.
(2/5) This is especially relevant as HIV cases continue to rise among the Latinx population... From 2014-19, new HIV diagnoses among Latinx people in GA grew by 21%... with ~4,000 Latinx individuals living w/ HIV in GA.

That’s not just a number— they're friends, family members, & community members.
Today is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day, a day dedicated to speaking up, educating, and taking action for our comunidad.

🧵 (1/5) A thread by Tony Huynh, HIV Policy Intern for Georgia Equality:

Below it, large red text reads “National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day” with a red ribbon incorporated into the word “AIDS.” A white box with red text below says “October 15.” Further down, green and yellow text reads:
“Every life counts.
Every story matters.
Together, we are united.”

Statewide, the Public Service Commission is on the ballot. While the PSC is often overlooked, this small panel has a major say on our energy costs and the future of renewable energy in GA.

To help make your decision, GA Conservation Voters have created a digital voting guide: gcv.branch.vote/ballot
A voter education graphic titled “Renew the Vote” highlights the importance of voting in the upcoming Statewide Public Service Commission (PSC) elections in Georgia. The left side features bold text: “Voting is free. Your utilities aren’t.” along with a QR code labeled “GCV Education Fund.” The right side explains that since 2023, the PSC has voted to increase utility bills six times, raising the average monthly bill by $43 (over $500 per year).

PSC Decisions Influence:

Utility rate changes and fee structures

Regulation of monopoly utilities like Georgia Power

Policies on renewable energy and energy efficiency

What’s at stake in Georgia?

Soaring Energy Bills: Georgians pay the 4th highest energy bills in the country

More Toxic Waste: Investments in dirty energy are expensive and polluting

Poor Air and Water Quality: Pollution control decisions affect environmental health

Public Health: Laws protecting Georgia’s natural resources are at risk

A small illustration shows a person looking at a large energy bill. The color scheme includes teal, coral, and navy tones.
Today marked the beginning of early voting in Georgia!

All Georgians can find critical voting information including early voting locations and times, and view your sample ballot through your My Voter Page at: mvp.sos.ga.gov

NOW is the time to make your plan to vote!

I was sent this by a Georgian this morning. 2025 premiums vs 2026 premiums for someone making $65k a year.

Republicans in Washington did this.

This is what I'm fighting to stop. This is what’s at stake in this shutdown fight.
