9. she is still, in fact, a little grumpy, so her nickname will remain Gumpy until further notice

4. as expected, vet couldn't find a microchip either
5. she's not underweight, but has clearly been without a reliable source of food for a while, given her behavior
6. her fur is unusually clean and she doesn't have any ear mites, so she has almost certainly not been living in the wilderness

Vet visit done!!

1. she's a gal!
2. she's now vaccinated!
3. her heart sounds great! but, unusually calm? most cats are stressed out of their mind at the vet, but she was napping on and cleaning her butt on the floor. vet is guessing this is a cat with a lot of street smarts (and confidence)

I think for humans people wouldn't say "it", except maybe if they're a small baby? but even that sounds weird to me

there's also the gender neutral swedish "hen", but because it's relatively new it sticks out unusually strongly, in particular it might make boomers upset

I'm learning the hard way that singular they is not a thing in swedish, in posting about and searching for the owner of this cat online lol

the usual unknown gender pronoun in swedish is usually "it" for animals, but to me it sounds like you're talking about a thing, not a living being

I wonder how you'd design something like that! "out of bounds" might feel less out of bounds the more central it is in the design

like how speedrunning is almost always more compelling in games that are *not* about completing levels as fast as possible. the subversive improvisation feels central

that thing when you press a reddit link on your phone and it opens the reddit app and then you press back but you don't get back to your browser, instead you "back" out to the reddit "feed" and then pressing back again does nothing, but the third press does finally get you back to the browser

it went surprisingly well last time with my dad's cat Kelly, it just requires a lot of patience

@khyperia.bsky.social also offered to let them stay at her place for a while in case it doesn't work out here, so regardless, Gumpy won't be left out on the street again ❤️
