🛢️ Zenith Energy update 🧵 🛢️

Last week, Oregon DEQ approved Zenith's air permit. DEQ officials argued publicly that the permit represents an improvement in air quality because of supposed concessions.

Instead, adding risk to an already highly risky situation is a betrayal of the public interest.

ICE is raiding in Gresham near home depot today and yesterday Hillsboro.

ICE frequently use the federal garage at Terry Schrunk Park.

In and out all day. Many of the vehicles filmed going in to ICE are spotted dowtown. They are at an extreme tactical disadvantage when exiting.

Oliveira also admitted in a work session to the Portland City Council that they were not under a strict deadline for reviewing Zenith’s LUCS, but rushed a decision when it became clear Councilors Morillo and Green called for greater scrutiny.

The City — Wilson & Oliveira — owns this more than DEQ.

It’s important to remember that Zenith’s air permit is not simply the result of some neutral administrative processes and an “aw shucks that’s just how the law is” situation.

Zenith has been the beneficiary of *repeated* political interventions, including most recently, Mayor Wilson.

Reminder Mayor Wilson rushed to approve Zenith’s land compatibility at the start of his tenure over the objections of Councilors Green and Morillo.

Whether the fuel is so-called “renewable” or not will make very little difference in a liquefaction zone when the river is on fire.

A couple of years ago, the Democrats in the Oregon legislature passed a domestic terrorism law over of the objection of civil liberties advocates, environmentalists, and ordinarily reasonable Oregonians who told them this would only be used against the left.

It fits right in with Trump’s strategy.

The law is inherently political.

Lawyers & judges approving of something blatantly unconstitutional is a reflection of that.
