The funny thing is that Serious Sam 2 (besides it updating in the middle of my playthrough) is that it’s actually a fine horde shooter once it ramps up and you get past the kind of spotty first planet. I’m not a fan of long elevator/lift sequences though. Also the game is still psychotic (neutral?).
It’s been a few days since finishing Anthology of the Killer and I’ve already done a full second playthrough and feel like actually doing a full breakdown/write up. Every 5 minutes it feels like the gif of the guy opening the book and getting blasted with fire because the writing is so fire.
They’re installing harder alternate routes with boost pads and guaranteed double item boxes on my way to work, for drivers who want to take the risk.
Finished playing Anthology of the Killer last night. It's a collection of short adventure games about death and murder. In fact it might be the most about death and murder than anything else about death and murder. It goes hard and goofy and incredibly heavy when it wants to and I kind of love it.
One of my favorite things I did in a game this year was to open up tc_hydro and run around listening to the developer commentary. It has so many unusual spaces you don’t really see on any other map.

It’s funny how some of early TF2’s prettiest and most artistically coherent maps kinda suck to play.
Assuming I ever manage to make a game, it will naturally have to be about ridiculously violent catgirls…
Yeah that’s one of ‘em!!!
It’s been however many years of video games having been invented and I still can only think of like 2 where you can do a piledriver in first-person.
Yet another awfully slow day at the Squidward crushing factory.
Art is something I wish I gave more serious consideration to while I was still developing skills. Instead of learning fundamentals or any important principles I mostly learned how to copy or approximate where the lines should go to look like the other thing. Do people ever overcome this?
Had a dream that Seth McFarlane produced and directed a legally distinct Helluva Boss spoof that was somehow better in every way. It appeared next to the original show when you searched it and had 58% on Rotten Tomatoes
Sometimes a joke is worth examining just to see what it can tell you about jokes.
There’s a shelf of AD&D adventure modules on the shelf at my parents’ house, and at some point I’d like to go through them and evaluate them as a resource for general level design. I think if you can make dungeons drawn on graph paper engaging to walk players through you are already ready for a lot.
I feel like Aperture being a competitor to Black Mesa makes more sense in the context of this first game. Maybe it's just because it's more clearly a modded HL2, but Aperture behind the scenes feel more industrial and less techno-magical like 2. Or maybe it's just the giant pistons that do nothing.
Very fun game. It's a much drier and more compact experience than the sequel but in a lot of ways this is a good thing. Being able to blow through it in half an afternoon helps the pacing a lot and the puzzle complexity ramps up at about the right rate for that.
Playing Portal for the first time and I have a headache so I feel like I'm taking in less than I should, but at least one thing I noticed is the mood of the soundtrack. Around the chamber you get the dual portal gun it gets very distinct from what the 2nd game's would be and I kinda dig it more.
Zeno Clash fascinates me for a number of reasons. One is just how someone mangled the Source engine into a first-person beat-'em-up, another because of the weird moment in time and place that it occupies, and lastly because it's just so... weird and cool absorbing whatever the hell this world is.
Don’t worry, folks. He’ll get the help he needs.
I am at the point where I feel like I got to go to the library and check out a book teaching you how to draw cars or dragons if I ever want to learn a dam thing in my life.
Doodles of war and violence (funny) at work

Nobody knows who they were, or what they were doing, but their legacy remains…
In my mind the ideal player character for any Dark Souls game should look like they walked off the set of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
