it feels harsh to say out loud, but ur own self-loathing is far more likely to make other people loathe being around you than anything you feel is "bad" or "cringe" or "embarrassing". learn to love yourself unabashedly. not only will people react more strongly, but you yourself will feel better.

I feel so dumb for realizing it all this time after but I'm continuing my JPN studies in school and just figured out that the genshin nuis are named after "nuigurumi" (ぬいぐるみ), or "plushie/stuffed toy" :') the realization was like dawn breaking through a cold dark night
