NEWS: Chase Elliott has just won his eighth straight NASCAR Most Popular Driver Award. He is not here to accept the award tonight.
I remember that 1 car being my favorite of the C2 bunch, and I remember getting free Pepsi Edge after Gordon won that race.
Good going, NASCAR. 👍
“Sure you’re a generational talent, but you’re not qualified to test this hypercar because you finished 3rd at fucking Phoenix one time”
This used to be in New York City near the Holidays.
Fun hobby:

Going on YouTube, and watching a clip of John C. Reilly in a serious movie, delivering serious dialogue,

Then immediately putting on a clip of Steve Brule.

Even when it was on TNT in the early ‘00s, it was something that the drivers would look forward to.
I remember the battle for the top 10 being a big deal, because it meant going to the Waldorf for the Awards Banquet in NYC.
I saw a comment about how there are no storylines to follow with a season long points system, and I don’t think it could be further from the truth. The battle to finish in the top 10 in points used to mean something. There are stories to tell if you’re willing to tell them.
True. Mine was an IVF baby.

Though, they’d be trying the old fashioned way with a struggle before conceiving however they did, if it was an alternative way.
Even the threat of it happening Friday seems to make the case stronger. Thank god it didn’t, but if Friday AND Saturday end in fluke champions, the track gets burned to the ground before the green flag drops on Sunday.
One more thing, and my gripe with this is bigger than with the championship, that call to the finish made me fucking angry. We had a GREAT finish between Keselowski and Blaney, and they COMPLETELY ignored it to call Larson home. Leigh Diffey’s stock dipped yesterday. Allen Bestwick would never.
I’m not counting on a return to full season standings, but I have my own ideas that I’m more than willing to discuss, but my gut is saying 3-3-4 is what NASCAR has planned, which isn’t the best, but hey, it’s better than what we have. I just hope they can win-and-you’re-in.
I’m just glad this one race finale era seems to be over. It’s an awful way to crown a champion, and leaves a sour taste on the champion, regardless of whether or not they deserve it.
Larson winning it, as much as it is deserved, feels hollow because of this format, and how this race is the only one that matters.

Denny had the best car. Denny had the best race, and if Byron doesn’t wall it with 3 to go, he wins, and this wonderful storyline comes to be. Obv that didn’t happen.
That said, as much as I wanted Denny to win the title both sentimentally, and as a middle finger to ol’ Big Bill NASCAR, Kyle Larson 100% deserved to win the Cup.

He would have won in a full season format anyway, he won three races, and his stats were up there with the best.
Now that I’ve had some time to digest yesterday, I have some thoughts.

First off, this format sucks. I know it, you know it, etc. I’m happy we’re finally hauling this one race, winner take all bullshit into orbit, where it belongs.
Pretty sure he still would’ve won the title in the season, long format, but that doesn’t change the fact that there needs to be more of an emphasis on winning and leading laps, especially if we do a season long format in 2026.

no nascar overtime and denny hamlin wins btw. overtime is still worse than any format they can come up with, imo
This.
i don't even think larson is a particularly bad champion for 2025, he had a good enough season. it's just like. this format sucks, the reliance on restarts sucks, overtime sucks. it all just leaves an awful taste every time
Good riddance to this horseshit format.
And the broadcast completely ignores the race win

That was a hell of a finish and we didn't even talk about it lol
