Indeed. I think there’s always better ways (and metaphors) to make a point about shared suffering. Many have done it. It’s just being mindful.
After I saw BTS got a chapter in your book, I was waiting to see how you'd tackle them. Will read later but I'm wondering if they're the most significant chart breakthrough this decade given that K-Pop has been so popular
For sure. And I didn't remember it in real time either. Just found out after the fact. The song/video/message is phenomenal - but it's like John Lennon and Yoko Ono doing that song "Woman in the Ni---r of the World". I get and support the feminist message behind it. Just the title seems a bit much
Yep. Mike was making a larger point about how he felt was being treated by comparing himself to other victims of oppression but Sony cut those lyrics out. Thankfully, I’ll add. (Great song despite that).

This is a gross perversion of what he said though.
Not even Memphis blues hoodoo can overcome this. I’m amazed how much bad injury luck they’ve had since 21-22
I won’t disagree one bit.
We just watched one of the greatest playoff performances ever. Holy crap

What a night by Shohei Ohtani. In a closeout game to win the pennant. That’s HIM.

Remembering Fela Kuti today on what would have been his 87th birthday (born October 15, 1938) | Explore his musical legacy (including audio & video highlights) here: album.ink/FelaKutiHBD
This is my favorite RHCP song between Blood Sugar and Californication. I can't bear to hear One Hot Minute b/c of all the turmoil and Warped feels like a tease that never hits. But My Friends is one I play alongside my fave Chilis ballads.
I'm glad "Jonz in my Bonz" and "Spanish Joint" are on here. Two really amazing album cuts that show the wealth and breadth of D'Angelo's music. His singles are special but to hear the extra gumbo he cooked with his band are something else.
D’Angelo — the soul singer, songwriter and producer who died on Tuesday at 51 — released three studio albums of genre-crossing music. Here are 14 essential songs that show his extraordinary musical scope.
D’Angelo: 14 Essential Songs
The soul singer, songwriter and producer, who died on Tuesday at 51, released three studio albums of meticulously constructed, vocally ambitious, genre-crossing music.

Still processing this news. But watching D'Angelo in Sly Lives, it was very revealing about himself as much as it was Sly. That was Questlove's goal and I'm grateful we have him explaining himself so clearly.

What a gift....what a gift. What an incredible loss.
I settled on a clip from the (incredible) doc Sly Lives! (watch it now on Hulu if you haven't.) I think it's the most transparent commentary I ever heard from D'Angelo; it's about Sly, but it's really about him.

My plan was to grab a whole different clip, but this one felt right.
I still have no freaking idea what the heck happened in Milwaukee. That's one of the strangest plays I've ever seen.
Indeed brother. I listened again and I was amazed at something. We don’t usually hear songs that explicit and direct be pop hits.
Yeah by the time I was in college (02-06), MTV felt more caught in the reality TV show wave. They already dipped their toes and thrived in it but by then, I felt that was their game more than innovative music videos. Even TRL didn't hit the same then like it did for me in HS (98-02)
At this point, It's incredibly unserious behavior on their part. More "look at me" energy instead of intelligence.
Penn State followed the old rule of "what will be done eventually must be done immediately"

Only thing surprising about James Franklin is the timing. Figured his days were numbered but wow....UCLA and Northwestern sent them reeling to this end.
Thursday Night Football. Thursday night Lights. Giants. Eagles. Let’s enjoy.

Probably got delayed 20 mins but hey, that’s life. I was more fascinated than annoyed but still, it’s wild to be stuck like 2-3 mins away from Penn Station for way longer than the commute usually is.
First for everything. Stuck on a Jersey transit train because of engine failure. Another medal achieved in the NY/NJ bingo, I suppose.

It’s hard being a UCLA fan but that game……yeah. Wow. Didn’t see that coming.

Didn’t see Penn State looking like that after Oregon bossed them.
Don't worry about society's standards expectations for what to do or be at 30. Walk your own path and trust yourself.

Stretch often.

Treasure your friends but don't be afraid if you don't see them as much. If the bonds are strong, they'll continue even with distance.
Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?
