EUCAP trained 56 Police officers in Somaliland on Leadership & Command, focusing on leadership, ethics, human rights & cybersecurity. The Police Commissioner awarded certificates, thanking EUCAP for strengthening police leadership.
Under the EU-funded Red Sea Project, #EUCAPSOM supported an INTERPOL-led mentoring session on illegal fisheries in Bossaso. The event stressed stronger coordination and inter-agency cooperation to combat fisheries crime.
Through its Field Office in #Puntland, EUCAP #Somalia successfully conducted a two-week Training of Trainers course for 15 Commanders of the Puntland Maritime Police Force.

These Commanders were also trained in maritime radio comms (#SOLAS) and all obtained the Short Range Certificate #SCR.
EUCAP Somalia welcomed the Technical Specialist Advisor from the #Puntland Ministry of Fisheries & Marine Resources, to prepare upcoming training and support its legal capacity.

The Mission reaffirmed its continued commitment to strengthening #maritimegovernance.

EUCAP Somalia Head of Mission Kęstutis Lančinskas and @eutmsomalia.bsky.social Force Commander Brig. Gen. Marco Manzone visited Mogadishu Port to assess Maritime Domain Awareness initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance interoperability among Somalia’s maritime security institutions.
Our Field Office in Puntland completed the 5th of 11 seminars for 15 Puntland Maritime Police Force Commanders. The 10-day Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) training covered law, navigation, and human rights. MDA is essential for planning and executing operations at sea.

On Aug 4, Field Office Puntland with the support of EUCAP’s Human Rights Adviser held a seminar for @PMPFOfficial Commanders on human rights in maritime ops. 19 law enforcement reps joined to explore decision-making in line with the RoL and based on #humanrights principles.

EUCAP Somalia and UNTMIS jointly trained Somali maritime officers on Vessel Traffic Management & Information System (VTMIS).
This system will help Somalia monitor and protect its waters more effectively, prevent incidents and respond to threats.
Initial VTMIS deployment in key coastal areas soon.
EUCAP completed a 5-day training for the Somaliland Coast Guard, delivered by the Mobile Training Unit in Berbera. Topics included search and rescue, maritime safety, environmental protection, and anti-trafficking. Participants will share knowledge to boost operational capacity and ongoing learning.
