(i remind you that they intend on fighting an election in May)

(they’ve not been able(!?) to transfer the membership details of people who joined using Zarah Sultana’s website, and they’ve suggested then maybe backtracked on that being on the mailing list also makes you eligible to attend these meetings/‘regional assemblies’)
euan.bsky.social
they appear not to have asked the, fairly active, organising group in Edinburgh if they wanted to organise one, so it’s not just a case of meetings (sorry, ‘regional assemblies’) being where members* have organised them
(*they’re still being very loose with what constitutes a member at this stage)

i feel like someone told them it would be too Central Beltism of them to have them in just Glasgow and Edinburgh, but Inverness or Aberdeen were too remote for them so they’ve landed on the odd compromise of Glasgow and Dundee

but doctor, I am invented data!!

Seeing people nonchalantly post stuff like makes me feel like I'm going crazy honestly.
A post from an academic on blue sky that says: "I'm learning about "prompt engineering" when asking LLMs to extract data. I now add this to all instructions:

Style
Be concise, analytic, and specific (cite page/figure if provided). If essential info is missing, keep going but flag Unclear and exact data needed. Never invent data.

i know there’s averaging going on, but it’s extremely funny that according to this graph no-one has ever started liking Starmer again once they’ve stopped
avdeggar.bsky.social
The biggest takeaway from this graph is that six of the seven most unpopular prime ministers since records began are *the last six prime ministers we've had*

Does this look like the politics of a functional democracy?

a lot of people got primed to join a left-wing alternative to the Labour Party exactly as the GPEW firmly positioned themselves in that space, and then Your Party unedifying factional squabbling potentially put a lot of those people off
euan.bsky.social
John Curtice said after the 2021 Holyrood elections that the launch of the Alba had actually helped the Scottish Greens by making people more aware of the idea of voting for a different pro-independence party on the regional ballot, and i wonder if Your Party is having a similar impact on the GPEW
euan.bsky.social
this is shocking…

i didn’t think Alba had any direction

if i had a nickel for every time Ash Regan had run for leadership of a party, lost, and then quit that party entirely i’d have two nickels, etc, etc

It's one thing for a >35% Labour party to be howling that *its own preferred voting system* means smaller parties simply need to give up and get behind them, it's another thing sitting on around 20% and furiously denouncing parties on like 15% and 10% as splitters. Everyone's a splitter now babes!
euan.bsky.social
i’m a member of both, both parties ruled allow for it, the postcode thing on the GPEW site just points you to the Scottish Greens website as your branch if you put in a Scottish postcode (without, tbh making clear that you’re not actually able to get involved in Scotland without also joining them)
euan.bsky.social
you can join both, being a member of the Scottish Greens doesn’t directly support (financially or in terms of the membership numbers) the Green Party of England and Wales
euan.bsky.social
in some form, i don’t think it will be anything like what the wave of people who were excited by the announcement will want though
euan.bsky.social
it’s interesting how the Referendum seems to have very briefly lead to a plurality of holding Scottish and British identities equally, in a way that has since evaporated
euan.bsky.social
people in Scotland thinking of themselves as British at all looks headed to become a minority position in the not too distant future
