Humanism means: using  #evidence based #reason to form your views; developing your own and others wellbeing; being concerned for others; drawing meaning from connections and experiences, with other people, with the environment...

A picture of the character Colombo in a thinking posture. Alongside are words similar to those he often spoke: Just one more thing...Sir, ma'am can you substantiate that?

Cut fossil fuel imports by building #renewables (and large scale battery storage and energy saving). Tax the wealthy to help pay for investment.
Graph used by Carbon Brief showing the reduction in fossil fuel imports brought to various countries by building renewables. Without new renewables more than half of the UKs electricity would have relied on fossil fuel imports (in reality reliance on imports is less than a quarter). Source: IEA.

Spot on “Many of Labour’s younger voters are already tempted by the Green Party, which combines environmentalism with left wing economics. Now by mocking Green protections & cosying up to developers, chancellor is giving them more reasons to jump ship”. So here it is join.greenparty.org.uk/join-us/

Editorial: Rachel Reeves’s drive to speed up development is beginning to treat wildlife and the environment as expendable. Voters want homes built, but not at any cost

80% of people want their countries to take stronger #climate action, over half think about #climatechange frequently; humanity is united on wanting to do more. Governments & big businesses hold the most power to halt climate change. They can reshape global systems… (1/2) www.wri.org/insights/cli...
A chart with 19 climate-friendly choices ranked, starting with: Go car-free (most effective by far), fly less, shift to renewable home energy, switch to a EV or hybrid car, go #vegan, etc. all the way to "compost" (which is hardly doing anything).

#Tradition is accepting something without requiring justification and this should be rejected. Justification is what makes things more likely to be reasonable. Embracing/using traditions is often a feature of fascism.
Photos of two contrasting gardens are presented: one a highly manicured lawn with nothing but grass; one full of many many types of plants, not intensely managed, and featuring a three to four seat wooden bench. The words reject tradition, embrace biodiversity are written on the photos.

NEW ANALYSIS: More than 80% of UK social housing still relies on gas boilers keeping bills exposed to international gas markets and climate targets out of reach.

I’ve explored how other European countries are tackling this at scale, and what the UK can learn.

A system rooted in the biosphere and human well-being will look for ways to develop while staying in balance.

You can decide which this is...

Glad to see Nigel Farage has finally remembered Nathan Gill, former leader of Reform in Wales - found guilty of taking bribes from Russia.

Maybe he'll now remember how much he took from Putin's propaganda broadcaster Russia Today for all his TV appearances when he was a MEP?
