Liverpool til I die. Tory hater. Fool despiser. Gobshite, & sometimes amusing. I swear a lot, & I'm very opinionated. Probably not a good idea to tell me what I can post 👍 Hate writing bio's.

I’m thinking more about the off the ball shape, really. If he’s the left 8 (or 10, if you prefer) then off the ball, that role is usually Macca, & that’s LCM in a 4 due to Mo. If Mo isn’t playing, then that changes things, though. I guess we’ll see soon enough. Frankfurt should be fun.
So it seems, but I don’t know whether the 2-1 midfield will make a return or whether Slot will trust Wirtz as one of the two 8s. I don’t understand the change in midfield to start with, so I’m struggling to see where Slot thinks Wirtz fits in, if the switch is permanent to a 1-2 mid.
It will be interesting to see where Wirtz lines up on Wednesday, btw. LW, or part of the midfield. If LW, I would start to believe that we’ve abandoned any idea of rejigging the midfield & have gone back to a true 1-2 setup.
It’s similar on the right, but Mo will actually play Bradley in if he retains possession & sees the chance. Not that much comes from it, atm.
Neither does he 🤣 I’m guessing there’s a trigger, like you’d have for a press, though. I know if I was him, I wouldn’t bother going, tbh. The amount of runs he makes that are ignored must piss him off. They piss me off! But, that’s something Slot & only Slot can address. It’s pointless otherwise.
I agree with dropping Mo, but not for the same reason. Wirtz should start every game IMO. I’d give Chiesa a go at LW, & Frimpong RW. Have a look at that.
Not that he’s ever really passed to in that area, tbf. He’s more of a decoy than a decoy is a decoy 😕 But, I *think* the ultimate idea is that he’s not a decoy, but a box crasher. But it’s not working out like that, partly because Gakpo goes alone, the timing is well off & we don’t have mid control.
It’s more the positions they take up when in possession, for me. The starting point & where they move to. PSG are much better than us at controlling possession in the opposition half, or so it seems to me. Kerkez often pops up where you’d expect someone like Wirtz to be in the final third.
Cracking defending set pieces seems the obvious starting point, & perhaps the easiest to solve. Gakpo ending up as a creative & attacking focal point is plain weird.
I think they will, as part of the general rotation.
I presume Wirtz & Ekitike will both start on Wednesday, but as to the rest, no idea.
I think he has, but the results dictate whether you continue down the road, or not. He’s not an idiot. He’s a world class coach. But, what he’s trying to do is very complicated & involves a lot of changes, both in players & relationships.
I think so, yes. He does what Kerkez is being asked to do, but obviously much, much better. He times when he runs forward, he underlaps more than overlaps. Players actually pass him the ball. Clearly, it works much better for PSG due to their setup & the players around him understanding his role.
Thing is, we won’t sign the midfielders, & we haven’t even tried to look similar to PSG in any other area of the pitch. I think it’s bizarre, tbh.
I look at Kerkez’s position, & that’s what I see, though. Mendes. The only difference is, the rest of the team, including Gakpo, never actually use him. Like you say, we aren’t set up like PSG, so why is Kerkez playing a role like Mendes? I can’t understand it, much like the Wirtz thing.
But, can it work, with time? Can Kerkez become our Mendes, & Bradley our Hakimi? For me, it seems highly unlikely, but Slot seems committed to the idea.
They’re lining up to talk absolute shite & it’s incredible to see them all hang themselves out to dry on this particular topic.
Did they fuck, & even if they did, they’ll ignore it.
I don’t understand the logic of dropping him to start with, so I’m not going to argue with you on that. But, will the fullbacks eventually work? Can Kerkez & Gakpo find an understanding? Can Bradley help Mo get into the game more? Can we find a balance in midfield?
If we carry on doing what we’ve been doing, will things change? Will players get more familiar with each other, & their roles? Will results improve? Will the defence settle down, & the attackers find their mojo?

Or do we need to change certain things? Tactics? Players?

I think it’s a tricky one.
Yep. Wolves are grim, too.
Scoreline flatters West Ham, tbh. 0-2.
Keith Andrews is getting a tune out of his players. Fair play to him. Got mocked a lot, & had a tough situation to deal with.
Yes. Desperation does funny things in regards to Dango. But, they punch well above.
