Looking primarily at research-only PhD models (UK/EU/AU/NZ ideal) Open to others. 🇨🇦 If you know a scholar or program that lives at this intersection, your guidance is invaluable. Please reply or share! DMs open. (4/4) #DisasterResearch #PhD #SystemsThinking #RiskGovernance #climateadaptation
I need a supervisor whose core expertise fuses:
🔁 Complex Systems / Systems Thinking Approaches
🌪️ Disaster Risk Reduction / Climate Adaptation
📊 Risk Assessment / Risk Tools /Usability and applicability in practice (3/4)
The project is a systems-thinking & capability-based planning critique. Core question: Can structured tools truly capture systemic interdependencies and improve risk-informed decision-making in practice, or do they oversimplify complex realities? (2/4)
Seeking a PhD Supervisor for 2026: I'm a Canadian EM professional (hazard-risk, resilience planning, CI) aiming to bridge a critical gap between practice and academia. My research will evaluate a specific, internationally-adopted resilience assessment tool used in disaster risk reduction. (1/4)
Half of Canada be on fire right now
Anyone else experience major pre-trip anxiety in the form of tummy aches for a straight week?
They are living in an alternate reality, the mirror world and it feels so defeating.

This looks vague as hell
Yes, EM should be led primarily at the local level in terms of response, but with RESOURCES. You can't just cut off top-down support without addressing the gaps in local resources, training, and expertise.

The takes I see on this issue, miss the mark... 🤦🏻‍♀️
I seem to not be seeing any fighting back?
California, Oregon, and Washington should join Canada 🇨🇦
Thank goodness 😅

"Ambushed" by a plea for mercy is a real language choice.
We’re going to see any expression of virtue in the face of vice depicted by legacy media as a vicious attack on an innocent victim

Sure is a bad time to be a person who cares about things.
Any Canadians feeling doomy gloomy today? Uncomfortable? Mortified? A fascist autocratic regime rising just 19km away from my home, it's not just another country, it's our neighbour, a stone throw away.

Thinking of our fellow humans who never asked for this, and those that did, FAFO
