thank god for the "not sure" option
i love bunny and playground! and death of the author is super high up on my tbr
yes! i wouldnt have read this without booktok's recommendation but i loved it. nothing hits as hard as french existentialism
yes! and the short stories are largely about love and loneliness. 10/10
excellent point. i have some trouble focusing on audio, but it does make length feel irrelevant
yes! this one starts super in the weeds but i loved where it went
that is what i’m liking!! it’s not AS visceral, but it’s pretty damn good
i want to read this but i’m afraid of big books 😳 soon!
the tv adaptation for kindred is comically historically inaccurate BUT a good adaptation generally. new plot points that are heavy handed, but i’m mostly loving this

me too! i loved the characters and the tension was so well paced
just finished jackal. can’t WAIT to see @iameeadams.bsky.social at NYS writers institute this week πŸ₯°πŸ“š #booksky
this wouldn’t have happened if tiktok was publicly traded so our politicians could more directly profit from it
i have heard so many good things about this one, i hope to prioritize it soon
boy do i! not necessarily lesser-known, but these are some good/short ones:

assembly by natasha brown; open water by caleb azumah nelson; the harpy by megan hunter; we the animals by justin torres; almond by sohn won-pyung

re-listening to tulathimutte’s β€œrejection” - it’s boyfriend’s first listen and i like watching him laugh at the good parts πŸ–€πŸ“š #booksky
so paul mescal will play Phil when Evenings & Weekends eventually is adopted for a limited series, right?

I hope you do! Both so so excellent. One heartbreaking and the other good for a laugh.

these truly are all 5 star reads. so much character and commentary.
yeah i was about 0% surprised with their picks, genre fiction has such a bad rap
how do we feel about the but notable books list? what were the highlights? what is missing?
