I tried out the Crunchyroll Manga app and it seemed solid until I realized that of the 200+ series on the service, very few seemed to have all the chapters, which seems... bad? For me the main use case would be to pick up a manga from where an anime left off but you can't do that for the most part.

really funny seeing posts from people whose only barometer for politics is being mad at trump posting about the nobel prize winner like she’s actually a hero of peace

We’re so back (not really because they will probably individually cost $30 and are tied to that horrible rotating store, but still lol)

I reviewed Absolum, which has some of the best beat 'em up brawling I've played thanks to a freeform combo system, but is held back a bit by so-so roguelite elements. That said, I kept returning after rolling credits to hit guys with the cool elf woman's Guts Berserk Sword, so that's a good sign.

It’s such a bummer I wanted angry oil slick Vi so bad.

Y'all, they're trying to make me pay 100 dollars so I can play as the blorbos from Arcane, that is not ok. In all seriousness, the last few weeks have been a nightmare for the FGC: the PIF co-purchasing EVO, Capcom Cup going pay-per-view, and now Riot opening a portal into microtransaction hell.

While the fighting game community used to be a safe space to watch people do the coolest shit you've ever seen, 2XKO's overpriced skins are just the latest bad news in a space besieged by consumerism and sportswashing. @elijahgonzalez.bsky.social on the state of the FGC:
2XKO’s $100 Arcane Skins Are the Latest Bummer for Fighting Game Fans
2XKO's $100 skins and disappointing monetization are the latest bummer for a fighting game community besieged by bad times.

I’ve been playing that seemingly bad Fire Emblem mobile game and have thoughts on how players have already pushed past its limited mechanics to find something worthwhile. It also lead me down a rabbit hole about advanced movement techniques in Shrek SuperSlam for the GameCube (ie, crumpet dashing).

These last few months have been a reminder that sometimes, anime is good. Multiple great queer romance series that are getting second seasons? Literary icon Anne Shirley is here, also? I broke down the 10 best shows in a season full of genre fun, animation firepower, and pleasant surprises.

Sayonara Lara looks so good that at this point it feels unfair to look at it as the distraction before the cobra awakens. Koide was already responsible for many of Revue Starlight's highlights, and his solo direction debut knows what to bring over (Hama graphic design!) while still feeling fresh

For our map theme week, I wrote about RPG overworlds and how their abstraction of a space let them avoid the tedium that many modern open world games suffer from. I also have something in there about Borges and the French New Wave because why not, Garretts currently on a boat, no one can stop me.
