Unpopular, but extremely correct, opinion!

We had a shot with green economy transformation. But now it is either war (and not the technological warfare we do now) or just more rapid boom cycles as we spiral into a new, smaller, bifurcated system.

The thing is, there *is* something revolutionary happening. But too many don’t realize they are the ones currently deciding what that something will result in.
It's weird. They've all interpreted Trump's win, by a mere 2.2 million votes in 2024, to be some unprecedented mandate that they all have to bow to. The sheer implausibility of his two presidencies has convinced them there is something revolutionary happening - they need to blindly support it or die
I really was not prepared for the fact that so many of our major institutions would be inhabited by such cowards. From Congress to media/tech corporations to *some law firms and universities. I guess I watched too many “heroic protagonist” films… so I didnt expect so many people to suck so bad.

⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

My problem is more that I think his approach to politics is fundamentally wrong-headed. Working to meet people where they are does not work well because most people only hold a few truly strong political preferences; you need to make a persuasive argument, which Klein is basically refusing to do.
Yea, Klein is pretty clear that he doesn’t want to let his closely held principles limit the “size of the tent”
Anyway, I’m not sure this country deserves Coates. This passage in particular was excellent:

“I don’t even focus on people. I am at war with certain ideologies and ideas, and I want them expunged. I want to turn them into phrenology. That’s what I want. But I don’t want the people out.” 3/3
In flailing so visibly, Klein inadvertently highlights how clearly Coates understands his own principles and role. Klein essentially keeps asking which principles need to be compromised, and Coates refuses to take the bait. 2/3
This was much more enlightening than I expected, although I suspect not in the way Klein hoped. He comes across as flailing, philosophically and intellectually, because he has never had to understand adversity in the way Coates has. 1/3

And they’re often weakly held preferences!
It is wild to me that even people like Ezra Klein - who makes a living from convincing people his views are correct - refuse to understand that politics is also about convincing people, not just trying to follow the popular mood.
