Jura and the Sourlands.
Somebody tell me how these two are related.
What are we worshipping for again?
I’m still a child. I like train rides no matter how mundane.
I was not expecting to stumble back into Eliade’s “Terror of History” so soon.
Every time I preach, I feel like it’s really just God challenging me individually.
The wind makes everything come alive.
Possibly unpopular question, but I am wondering it: is truly de-colonial thought even possible? And if so, are there puritanical impulses that are given power in the process?
What does a daily practice of non-violence look like?
To discern vocation from career, the ways in which they might overlap and diverge, is no small task. To do so while mindfully attending to the livelihood of those who depend on you is yet another level.
I have a greater sense of appreciation and awe for old people. Maybe it’s being over 40, a literal sense of closeness by way of time. I am closer to 80 than I am to 0 after all.

Who was Wong Kim Ark? 1/
black and white photo of Wong Kim Ark, American of Chinese descent. He is looking straight at the camera.
But what will we say when it’s all over?
I’m realizing how much I love liminal space, like literally. That’s why I love walking, extending that time between point A and point B.
To have Jimmy Carter’s lingering presence in the Capitol for a couple days after Jan 6 anniversary feels like a sanctifying kiss of grace on a wounded and weary soul.

I can’t imagine a bigger contrast of character than Carter and Trump.

Even in death, he actively blesses us with a hope.
