I’m mildly concerned that the Dems are just taking it for granted they’re gonna win in 26. We’re gonna see an explosion of racial gerrymandering after that court ruling and if Republicans can steal the election, the media does not have the ability nor interest to explain what happened.

The South is not a 1:1 case. For one thing, governance failures are less obvious in less lower population areas. When utilities fail the pain is less acute in rural areas than urban. Secondly, a lot of that discontent is minorities existing, which Republican governance does deliver on purging.

No Kings isn’t meant to defeat Trump. There just isn’t a mechanism to do that right now. It’s meant to shatter the manufactured consent that Trump and his allies have been pushing, that they have a popular mandate to reorganize America into a dictatorship. It is valuable to undermine that.

Tariffs are by definition a negative sum interaction, and therefore literally always lower demand. Lower demand means lower economies of scale, which means higher prices even not counting the direct price impacts of the tariffs themselves.

I’ve been quite enjoying cyberpunk red. I still maintain the 2020 sourcebook is the best written RPG sourcebook ever & while Red isn’t nearly as good on that front it’s a tight, well-designed, fast paced game. Auto-fire is underpowered but you literally toss an extra d6 onto there and it’s perfect.

I’ve never encountered someone so vapid. He thinks he invented asymmetric capabilities when they’ve been around for as long as modern war and he claims he can destroy a Chinese destroyer with a single drone by hitting its bridge, which 1) will get shot down and 2) won’t render it combat ineffective.

We gotta separate “hope that this can be overcome” from “sticking your head in the sand”. We also have to separate “a sober assessment of how entrenched the regime is” from “dooming.” I believe we will win. But every day the damage to undo gets greater, and the human cost gets higher.

How is this such a common feature of this admin? Is it just that nobody has ever had to work in a secure comms environment? I feel like we get a photo of someone’s notes or internal memo that they just accidentally flashed at a camera once a week and that almost never happened before.

The martial-caster gap just exploded by the end of the edition as well. I’ve been running a weekly game for about 7 years in 5e and the amount of homebrew I’ve needed to make the martial party members competitive with the casters at epic level is absurd.
