Lots of quotable content in this - for example "the ten year total cost of ownership of an EV is €12,000 less than the ICE equivalent"

The only person whose Twitter/X payments I know of is that Richard Lowe MP character because it is in his parliamentary declaration, but...it is a lot of money.

If others are on a similar coin, then Elon must be haemorrhaging money.

I think I have read more books this year. Replaced TV and series binging rather than doom scrolling though....

this is one of the best articulations of the AI bear case I've read

most of the AI companies are also massively wealthy and profitable hypercorps, but OpenAI specifically is a bomb planted at the heart of the American stock market helpfully labeled "this is a bomb"

Oh my giddy aunt.

The reviews from folk in TV land are in for Leonard and Hungry Paul by @ronanhession.bsky.social

Seems like they love it to pieces.

Brilliant!

A working Jaguar?
That must have been quite a long time ago.

I have discovered that New Model Army have released quite a lot of music since I last saw them in Birmingham in 1998...so I have homework to do before I see them in Edinburgh next weekend.

Excellent analysis.
Sadly all the wrong people will read that article and all the wrong people will read this dismantling of it.

Yes that is definitely the case...and I personally know of a number of tradesmen who come over from Holyhead for a building contract and head back home when the job is done.

How would they appear on the government statistics - presumably "economically innactive"?

Woah... quickly trying to get afternoon off to get to this...

Fair enough - but I do think that if they get discussion started on the inequities of the existing class hierarchy and what it is doing to the country...and which we are currently (wrongly) blaming immigrants for.

They do weigh 32.5kg though so that might be a blocker for some folk.

I'd say the opposite - I think that this would cleave young people away from the right wing and guarantee coverage (albeit spittle flecked rage) from the red top press.

The popularity of the monarchy (and the union) tails off a lot by younger age group.

In truth, he never really enjoyed night work.
His turning up at the last minute was an early sign of that, and as for sauntering to the rear. His heart just wasn't in it.

That is Skimbleshanks enjoying his retirement.

Also - sorry to wang on about this one thread but - I do think that the reason that some retired people voted for Brexit is that they believed that it would allow/force their adult kids to come home from overseas.
