"...so the wretched infidel gazes himself blind at the monumental white shroud that wraps all the prospect around him. And of all these things the Albino whale was the symbol. Wonder ye then at the fiery hunt?" -- #MobyDick

Tesla's stock is higher than it was a year ago, 5 years ago despite its brief drop earlier this year. Alas.

Some days I think about how hard I worked to get the hell out of central CT, and then there are days I think maybe I should just move back and get a job painting houses like my father and put all this petty bullshit behind me.

My latest: "Numerous studies show that majors in the humanities—typically, in departments of English, history, philosophy, religious studies, classics and languages—lead students to employment and life satisfaction outcomes as positive as those for majors traditionally championed as 'practical.'”
Counterpoint | Minnesota humanities graduates thrive in meaningful careers
"The stereotype of the underemployed history major is simply not true," professor Andrea Kaston Tange writes.

Ugh, so jealous. Wish I could get there.

Many museums already do this. We did them with our kiddos when they were little. New York's Nat Hist. use to do this, and I feel like one of the Tates. Denver Art Museum has something like this, too.

At some point we're simply giving up on what it means to be human.

When my children were little we'd take them to museums (art, natural history etc.) and have them do scavenger hunts. They loved it, and we got to experience the museums through their eyes.

Somehow I have been brought to the Mall of America. Send help.

"... they're saying boo-k history". #bookhistory
Still from the Simpsons episode "A Star Is Burns" (1995). A decrepit Mr. Burns, having just screened his self-aggrandizing original film, sits in the theatre seat turned slightly toward his dorky younger assistant and yes-man, Smithers, who is gesturing nervously with his hands.

The caption reads:
Smithers, are they booing me?
No, they're saying Boo-urns

In this post, the last line goes as follows: "No, they're saying Boo-K History"

Nor for itself hath any care;
But for another gives its ease,
And builds a Heaven in Hells despair."

Visiting my kid at her college is wonderful. But it’s a bit weird ‘cause I feel like I’m at work.
