Don't know what happened to tickets for many of the gigs I went to in my late teens / early 20s, so here's the next one I could find for #TicketStubWed this week. Jamiroquai at Brixton, June 1993 - peak acid jazz fever, especially with Simon from Brand New Heavies joining on gtr for most of the gig.
Ticket stub for Jamiroquai + Guests at Brixton Academy, London on Friday 4th June 1993. Doors 9pm - 3am. Tickets £13.50 (In Advance) Ticket number is 01133. The ticket has a vertical fold mark down the centre and a small drawing pin hole near the top edge, just to the right of the centre line.
The ticket has a white background with wavy horizontal yellow lines of varying thicknesses forming a pattern across the centre. The top and bottom edges have a yellow band with a repeated 'Brixton Academy' pattern across them at an angle in white capital letters. The left hand perforated edge has a silver holographic pattern with 'Brixton Academy' printed on it, the perforation has cut the words 'Brixton Academy' in half where the end of the ticket has been removed on entry, leaving only the top half of the lettering visible. #ticketstubwed #musicchallenge #acidjazz #nineties

Cool! I haven’t forgotten I need to get you those notation patterns, it’s on my list of drum related jobs!
Tidal is v decent, good audio quality, they’ve (finally) added the ability to customise playlist artwork, am hoping might persuade more artists / labels to invest more time in the platform.

"According to Tricky, when he decided to go solo, the group’s lynchpin 3D told him, 'If you leave Massive Attack, you’ll never do anything. You can’t even get up in the morning. You’ll never make an album.'"

'Pre-Millennium Tension': How Tricky Challenged Expectations To Find Artistic Freedom
Tricky’s second official solo album, 'Pre-Millennium Tension,' was a dark and defiant exploration of his inner psyche.

Ha! Amazing. I think I did a mix for the Solid Steel radio show around the time this came out, so there may have been some 12s around as competition prizes? Or someone in the Ninja office might just have been having a tidy up and wanted rid 😁

Nice! Strong ‘Vision On’ vibes. Looks like at least 2 bottles of Tippex, so he’s probably just passed out somewhere from the fumes.

Once, whilst looking for something in a draw, I discovered I could draw, once.
Pencil drawing from my GCSE sketchbook, late 1987. Three pairs of scissors intertwined. I think they might have been fabric shears borrowed from my mum.

Ooh, putting this on my Christmas list, I was his radio plugger for a few years in his Go! Discs era, he was a terrifyingly belligerent character by that stage & recall at least one radio session at the old Virgin studios that got a bit hairy, but the songs always just about carried him through.
