This story took about two years of work for a team of reporters at the Government Accountability Project and OCCRP. It shows a serious issue with the American corporate system that allows people like the Barzani family to hide money in the United States using American companies
In 2007, an employee of Iraqi Kurdistan’s ruling Barzani family wrote to a U.S. lawyer with a problem.

Two Barzani brothers had bought properties in the U.S. — but they were concerned that this information was public.

So the lawyer looked to the Pirates of the Caribbean.

For years, we’ve reported on Chinese-born Uyghur businessman Khabibula Abdukadyr, who colluded with corrupt Kyrgyz customs officials as he built his Central Asian trading empire.

Now documents show that his son owns a mosque in London.

The Satuq Bughra Khan mosque in Palmers Green is also a Uyghur cultural and educational center. The owner’s family is implicated in vast corruption in Central Asia.

Your next medical visit could be with a banned doctor.
Denise Barnes’ daughters say it’s shocking that the doctor who failed to properly treat their seriously ill mother is still licensed in Germany.

Struck off in the UK and Netherlands, he has co-owned a German practice since 2018.

Trump wraps up a speech to military leaders that represented a major escalation of his effort to weaponize the armed forces into a tool he can use to violently quash domestic dissent. Hard to imagine how anyone with a shred of dignity can keep serving after this, which of course is the point.

Looks like the pro-EU PAS party of Maia Sandu will win big in Moldova with almost 49% of the vote. The Pro-Russian party is just over 25%. That’s better than expected for Sandu as record voting abroad supported her despite repeated bomb threats at embassies. 96% of the vote is in.
The Russian parties spent millions in bribes and on aggressive propaganda which works in the U.S. and some EU countries but not in places where people know the Russian government very well.
