Oh, I 100% believe that the amount of cultural and expressive freedom you have in China is greater than is perceived - but it comes with provisos. You can only go so far (and less far than in the west). But I’d prefer to be in China over Russia, for example.

To be 100% cleat, not saying Covid did, just using it as an example that there are limits to the good side of this. Some of it is absolutely a method of state control.

There’s a lens of institutional misinformation wrapped around this though, no? In that, yes, great that influencers must have the qualifications to discuss medicine, but if you want to say (correctly or otherwise) that in your qualified opinion Covid came from a Chinese lab, that ain’t happening .

The whiter the area the more likely it is to have a Reform problem. Immigration isn’t the problem, otherwise you’d get Reform in more diverse areas - it’s fear of change among older people.
