discovered today that Americans do not know the word 'more-ish' when my entire zoom group was confused as to why I would describe fruit gums as "Moorish"
Exactly, fruit leather, of which they somewhat resemble is more of a Persian speciality... Moorish would be what you'd call an ice lolly on account of it's evident descent from sharbats...
My first wine was named 'Not my King', it went down brilliantly in Chiswick 😂
Remind me again how much dear old Queenie paid to have her boy's rape case go away - £12,000,000
am somewhat baffled by the people being referenced here... why is Owen Jones being brought into this? 😂
@henrygjeffreys.bsky.social going to have to stop calling you babes and switch to the slightly more cockney aw'right dolly bird
I have a theory that there's a rough line that bisects Europe, below which parsnips are horse feed, above which they're much loved winter veg and it's roughly where the winter freezes occur early enough to affect the veg
yeah, a bit like parsnips the freeze breaks down some of the starch in them so they end up tasting sweeter...
That’s a rabbit hole I don’t think I want to go down.

Name a protest movement, anywhere or at any time, that has achieved its goals without being annoying and obstructive.
People like this enjoy the freedoms our political ancestors gained for them, while attacking the means by which they were achieved.
Nope, you make protest obstructive and annoying you lose the good will of the general population.
When they ring their local member to complain - they dont tell the local member to deal with the issues raised by the protesters, they tell them to deal with the protesters.
I gift you all the most cursed recipe I’ve seen in some time.
THE GARDEN'S PERFECTION IN VEGETABLE SOUP
75
I took one can of concentrated vegetable soup, half a can of milk, and three stewed apples, mashed. The result imitated the original to perfection. We still keep it as a special treat on our menu, especially in summer, when we chill our puréed vegetable soup with apples Normande and drink it from twelve-ounce highball glasses. We have given this recipe to countless guests, for with the first sur-prised, pleased taste they never fail to ask.

I don't, am also a little ambivalent about exact grammatical rules. So long as meaning is clear I think we should allow language to evolve with immigration. Imagine if we didn't have the poetry of Benjamin Zephania..
I don't think this goes far enough. I think we should demand A level standard competence of English from all people that are allowed to vote.... if you can't correctly place a comma you can't vote reform 😂
All of this is being put out to placate the right wing press...

In the meantime, it's causing fear & confusion. As I understand it:

● this only applies to some people on skilled visas
● it's not "A level English" it's something called SELT
● much the same requirement exists elsewhere in EU
Love a turnip, that savoury radish adjacent flavour. How cold a part of the world are you in? Do they get the heavy frost treatment that makes them sweeter?
also, the google ai responses to my searching for it are magnificent
I saw an amazing meme that contrasted the gibbon rise and fall spine illustration with the increase in US truck size 😂
What about we make sure that voters have to pass A level standard English also....
Float like gravity, never had a cavity. Got more rhymes than the one has got family.
I think they genuinely revel in their troll like opinions...
