Wow, I apparently cleared 10,000 followers!

You've all made a terrible mistake and are going to spend too much on obscure games!

I am terribly sorry, but relieved to see others suffering from my curse.

I also have a Steam curator page, and accept tips (which helps me find games). Details below:

It was my 2022 GOTY! Mostly a one-man production, made mostly out of RPG Maker stock assets and free music/audio libraries, and also a massive tribute to PC98-era Falcom and modern Vanillaware.

It's peak 'This should not work but it really does' gaming.
This JRPG platformer's amateurish art hides one of 2022's best and wildest sleeper hits
Astlibra Revision looks bizarre, but when you play it, you'll see why it's become a huge hit on Steam.

A reminder that Gravity Circuit is still free this week on Epic. One of my favourite platformers of the past few years, and a huge, highly refined tribute to the Mega Man Zero series.

Great music, great bosses, lots of extra play-modes and optional systems giving it great replay value too.

This quote has been living, untarnished, in my brain for thirty years now.

I am convinced it is one of the most perfect things written in any video game.

Remembering Raquio's ending/epilogue from the game... Yeah, 'inexplicably iconic' fits.

raqio is such an icon. icon for what, no one knows, but they're certainly SOMETHING
screenshot of the Gnosia anime. Raqio, wearing a feathery headdress and facepaint plus a cyan robe with one pointy white sleeve, plus additional indescribable accoutrements, says "They say humans who have a gender are easily swayed by external looks."

glad the gnosia anime like IMMEDIATELY goes "yeah these bitches are sooooo nonbiney, and that one's extremely pansexual" . in the future, everyone will be queer, and the queerest of queers can be identified by how genuinely fucked up clowncore they are

It SHOULD work fine if you install Deus Ex (regular, totally clean), run that once, and then download and run Revision, unless you've got files lying around from older mod setups? Might have to manually clean out some stuff from your Steam directories.

My only real issue with it so far is that enemies with grenade launchers are VERY trigger-happy. They will just spam explosives wherever they think you are. And they're faster on the draw than you'd think.

Also the Hard Mode mod makes MGS5: Subsistence even more interesting. Enemies have longer sight ranges and faster response times, so camo really matters, and you can die in a couple good rifle bursts. I managed to get one-shot by crawling onto a mine.

Most Doom maps are designed to be played starting with no resources! Some campaigns are balanced to support continuous play but not all.

Just had a little poke around that Subsistence mod for MGS5, and it really does change the feel immediately. That game still has almost unparalleled stealth mechanics, but the upgrade treadmill stuff undermined it.

Starting missions with almost nothing and improvising using stolen gear feels great.

I *think* there were some script revisions for v2.0, but I can't recall. Sometimes things are just Of Their Time.

The dev's previous game, Hyperbolica, is *actually* about non-euclidian space. And it has VR support, in case you want to have every neuron in your visual processing center short-circuit.

Yeah, it's a LOT to wrap your head around. Just the concept of the volume view - swapping your perception of height for the fourth axis - takes a lot.

And later levels introduce even more complexities. The finale is... something else.

To this day I am still hideously confused by the people who think the original PS1 translation of FF Tactics (which was so bad as to make it hard to even follow the basics of the story) was superior because it had a couple unintentionally funny lines.

Tapped out a bit early, but some good choices tonight, and the Hype Train record was just... slaughtered. Thanks to everyone who tuned in. We're back a bit earlier than usual on Monday with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

As that guy's video says, the only real downside of the mod is that it isn't compatible with Infinite Heaven, which means no custom side-ops. Yet. It might be made compatible one day.

But for now it seems like the most exciting way to play MGS5, which had SO many systems that undid themselves.

Enemies have loadouts/potential loot based on what sub-faction they are (and there's a lot of them), and the 'revenge' system operates on a single-mission basis. Gun down an outpost or two and the final objective will be covered in guys with full body armor and heavy weapons

And it has a Hard Mode!

Up until recently, the only big mod for Metal Gear Solid 5 was Infinite Heaven, a kinda 'everything and the kitchen sink' sandbox.

Seems a new heavy hitter is up. Definitive Subsistence, letting you play every mission as a dynamic OSP operation where each encounter's solution changes the next.
