This is *always* something extremely deeply emotionally triggering (people are not recruited into cults via logic, but almost entirely via emotional manipulation) and more often than not it's traumatic--losing a loved one, finding one's child was sexually abused by a religious leader, etc.

One of the things that can break someone out of a cult--something I myself experienced as someone who was raised in an MSoG-lineage (and now NAR) cult and got out--is something *so* jarring to your worldview that you can't actually make it FIT with your personal morals & forcing a reset

And the reason is because WHEN those files come out, there is an *extremely* good chance that's going to be such a "breaking event" that it's going to outright Bright Slap a lot of well-intended extremists out of the spell just a little. Just enough to split their lockstep uniformity.
