Excellent! I would submit your suggestion to the calendar people, but so far, Pope Gregory XIII hasn’t responded to my emails.

Instead of seven months with thirty-one days, they should take six days away to make them an even thirty. The extra days would go to October for a new week-long Halloween.

Captain Eric strutted onto the bridge in a spacesuit. “Check it out! Space Operative brass got us new, #deluxe model suits! Jets and an interstellar radio. It even has a built-in men’s room!”

Amy gasped. “What? No they don’t!”

“They don’t? Oh… Tell Koby the intern I have his new suit.”

Good questions to ask on a first date:

* Do you have any siblings?

* What was your major in college?

* Is that your original skin?

* Do you think the humans suspect anything?

* Do you prefer eating meat or souls?

* What kind of music do you like?

Etc.

Oh definitely. It's always a good idea to take satisfaction in a job well done, especially when it's physical and tangible. With so much work being digital now, it's good to get that physical satisfaction when you can.

If you feel like you need a "real grownup" to give you permission, I'm forty-whatever and have a gray beard. Consider this post your permission slip.

You did a great job. I'm proud of you. Now go eat some candy.

Apologies to semicolon lovers, but I will... well, not die on this hill exactly, but I will argue on this hill for several minutes until I get tired, and then I will nap on this hill.

Sometimes adults miss being rewarded for reading books or doing their chores like when they were kids. Well, I’ll let you in on a secret: you can reward yourself now

Have some chocolate after you finish that big doorstop novel. Take a gaming break after you do the dishes. Good job! Have a treat!

Exactly. It’s like those Victorian writers who made every paragraph a long and winding sentence. Sure you caaaaan do that, but when you’re competing with Netflix, social media, and games, it’s probably better to make your writing easier to follow.

Semicolons do not belong in fiction and do nothing to improve a story. They’re used so rarely that they’re distracting.

It’s like a film throwing in a random Dutch angle. It’s so noticeable that it takes you out of the story and makes you aware of the camera, or the page.

We're on the cusp now, friends. Climaxes waiting in the wings.

It's time to get weird: book 7 is live.

7)	Background is a photo of a grassland under heavy stormclouds. Picture of a book cover called Under a Sign of Butterflies by MC Burnell depicting a tall man with a sword walking through a rocky grassland in the pouring rain. Text reads: The more powerful mages grow, the more they lose control. Volume 7 of the epic fantasy The Tipping World. Dyafer had seen something flowing up the hill but not Seen it, and the explanation for this disconnect was obvious: she had imagined it, as one often did with monsters in the dark when one was scared. Because she was a mage, what she imagined became real. They had sat here at the top of this hill for days, fearful and feeling isolated, all of them waiting for this ancient power they couldn’t fight to come for them, and come it had. But it had actually been here all along, and now their fear was running riot in response.
