if you want furry merch, buy direct from independent artists. it's so much more fulfilling to engage with the fandom on a personal, independent level rather than lining some corpo douche's pockets just because you mumbled "ouuh furry REAL" at a window display at the mall (or online)

while i think that "furry as fashion" has been an interesting development in recent years, i do genuinely worry that turning the fandom into another Jersey Shore souvenir t-shirt option is really flattening our whole culture into a clean, consumable product that corporations can profit off of

i'm learning there are also furry tees for sale at Hot Topic, and while they appear to be (as far as i can discern) made by an actual meatspace artist who i can't really begrudge for getting that bag in our nightmare economy, i don't think i'm really wild about what that *represents* for The Scene
