...when he met again with Democratic leaders to negotiate a way to avert this current shutdown, he decided to do it in private without television cameras rolling. And the main takeaway from the other attendees in that meeting was that Trump did not seem to really understand what was going on. I mean, specifically, he did not understand that the whole debate was around Democrats wanting to extend subsidies to keep people's health care premiums from skyrocketing. As Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer put it at the time, he didn't seem to know about the health care premiums going up so much seems to be what it's all about. And for someone who claims to be some sort of political savant that's pretty disconnected.

Trump's $20 billion bailout of Argentina is now contingent on whether or not the people of Argentina vote for his political allie's party in the upcoming election. So the Argentinian economy is teetering on the edge of collapse, which it is, and Trump is forcing the people of Argentina to choose between economic collapse or voting the way Trump wants them to in an election that, by the way, is being held in just two weeks. The whole thing is so outrageous that an Argentinian reporter followed up with Trump about it later, asking Trump to clarify if he really meant that us support for Argentina would depend on the results of the upcoming elections, and here is how Trump responded:

To be more clear there, that is what Trump is using $20 billion of taxpayers money for, to prop up the economy of a foreign country and to influence a foreign election. Meanwhile, here at home, he has frozen or canceled nearly $28 billion worth of government projects in just the past two weeks since the shutdown began. The New York Times just published a story breaking down how almost every one of those canceled or frozen projects just happens to be in a Democratic congressional district.

Trump calling for Netanyahu to be pardoned as a consequence/unofficial sweetener of ending the Gaza War makes total sense when you realise that Netanyahu crafts national policy based on personal interest.

So Trump's call for a pardon for Netanyahu should be considered a form of corruption itself.
