A class move by MSL to ensure that Savard got the last shift of the game.
An emotional moment for David Savard as his NHL career ends 🫢
ROUND 1, GAME 5: 1-4
Too little too late, and the Caps round out the series with an empty net goal.
Lots of positives heading into '25-'26.

It took the Leafs six years after drafting Auston Matthews to win a playoff round.
The Habs are the youngest team to ever make the playoffs. It's a learning process. Give them time. This year's experience is a necessary step forward and will make them better next season.

Another strong night for the Habs confidence in the future but another loss.

But why are the standards changing so drastically in the playoffs, it’s WWE with weapons? It’s not how to sell this beautiful game.

I am gonna rip the shit out of NHL hockey playoffs tomorrow and everyone is gonna hate me for it, particularly those whose job it is to sell the game to you.
Plus, the whole cross-check to the face thing...
So now, both Gallagher and Caufield have taken cross-checks to the face with exactly 0 penalty minutes handed out as a result.
GAME 2, ROUND 1: 0-2
A fortuitous bounce opens the scoring for Washington, and despite a big push from the Habs, their 3rd of the game comes into the empty net with 1 second to play.

I expected nothing less after Gallagher was cross-checked in the face in the 1st period in front of the referee, and no call.
Laine was interfered with, which didn't allow hip to play a pass from his own zone. The linesman still called icing, though on a play like that they normally waive it off.
How do they call the icing if the Caps player interferes with Laine's ability to play the puck? πŸ€”
Habs got burned on that call.
It doesn't seem to hurt as much when it's the all-time NHL goal scorer burning youβ€”it's what he doesβ€”but he's also the guy who should draw the most attention. Hutson didn't pick him up, and game over.
They'll learn.
Officiating was questionable tonight. From the moment that Gallager took that cross-check to the face in the scrum without a call, you knew it would be inconsistent.
It doesn't matter. Every time he opens his mouth, he's annoying.

Congratulations to the Montreal Canadiens for making the Stanley Cup Playoffs!
