I don't tend to do this often, but it's a new year, so here's a new self-introduction. #promosky

Hold on, ten...times ten...no, wait, it's ten million times ten million, no, damn, uh, damn, ten times ten million, right!? That's, uh, ten to the tenth power? No, God, that's stupid!

It only takes a few minutes, so please remember to vote and send in your ballots! (perhaps at a library ballot station?)

I know I said yesterday that I don't normally talk about local politics, but if I could just make one little exception: if you live in Washington County, remember that we have a special election on some levies, one of which funds our fantastic public libraries!

Actually wait, now that I think about it....can Xenomorphs swim?🤔
I don't think I've ever seen them in water. Maybe they'd just sink?
Huh. I guess the Gungans win this round.
While I search for the next seasonal game to pick, I'll just throw out a classic to recommend to folks on here: Grim Fandago is arguably LucasArts best adventure game and a fantastic pick for #Halloween, so go out and play (or watch) it if you haven't yet!

Game 33: The Invincible (Dropped after significant playtime)
I don't usually like to use the term "walking simulator", let alone in a pejorative sense, but despite it's fun and eerie sci-fi premise,The Invincible fits the negative stereotype of walking sims to a tee, full of padding and badly paced.
Game 32: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (Finished)
This didn't exactly change my rather dismissive opinion towards Indy, and it had quite a few problems stemming from a lack of polish, but it was a good fun time nonetheless.
Game 31: Indika (Finished)
A short, twisted narrative game exploring Russian faith and cultural attitudes intermixed with some light puzzling. Not something everyone would be interested in, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I have said a premature goodbye to my second spooky game, the adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's The Invincible. It has an intriguing premise, good acting and pretty visuals, but even for a narrative game the pacing was absolutely glacial and couldn't hold my interest. I'll just try the novel instead.

I'm just a lowly art historian, but in moments like these I always think back to one early sign of Trump's wanton, pointless destructiveness: his demolition of the priceless & irreplaceable Art Deco relief sculptures on facade of the Bonwit Teller building, which he tore down to build Trump Tower
This is basically the poster image for this administration. A government made up of the villains in a kids movie who want to tear down the cherished landmark to build a strip mall no one will go to.
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

NEW: 5 to 8 million people protested Trump’s power grab at No Kings rallies Saturday, likely the country’s largest single-day protest since the 1970s. Trump responded by attacking Americans and making more extreme power claims — and Republicans came to his defense.

But wouldn't that mechanism also self-sabotage itself?🤔
Oof. My legs really hurt this morning, and Bluesky appears to be arguing about.....video stores?
Uh....I remember Hollywood Video having cool theming as a kid? 🤷‍♂️

Look, I don't get it. Sometimes the arguments on here are real "mouse vs scorpion" affairs.

Oh, it's this Friday? That's a nice little gift at the end of the week.
So, for anyone curious, the TL:DR version of the Republican reaction to Saturday's protests is basically just "It's the (((JEEEEEEWS)))!!!". Same as it ever was.🙄

⚖️ The Paris Criminal Court is set to hear a case between November 4 and December 16 against French multinational company Lafarge and several of its former executives who have been accused of financing terrorist organizations during the Syrian war.
They can just get Forge to make a machine to do it for them, like with any other tricky problem the writers don't know how to solve.
(Though I do like the image of Ororo always being stuck with laundry duty. A one woman spin cycle.)
"JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE! I'M SO ALONE!"
But the Inca were an empire for a reason. They were a very complex and organized society, and their army speaks to that quite well. My favorite fact about them? Despite the army being composed of ethic units, coastal men were exempt, because they couldn't handle any climate other than the beach.😄
