NO ONE WAY WORKS, it will take all of us

shoving at the thing from all sides

to bring it down.

~ Diane di Prima, American poet, artist, prose writer, and teacher. August 6, 1934 – October 25, 2020.

Revolutionary Letter #8. #Resist #Contribute #Warrior

Image is an orange circle that looks kind of like a record album without a hole in the middle. Black italics text is words of the poem. Maybe text style is a nod to author’s Italian heritage of which she was very proud?

I am sounding the alarm that the GOP is engaged in an all out attack voting rights and free and fair elections. Voter suppression, gerrymandering, and troops in blue cities are just some of the ways they are using to try to rig the rules to keep power in 2026 and beyond.

Pay attention and act!

AOC: You're damn right that it's a Democratic priority to keep people from getting poisoned, from dangerous chemicals

You're damn right that it's a Democratic priority to bring down the cost of housing

If they want to say that that's a Democratic priority, they're right,

We can’t pay air traffic controllers during the shutdown, making us less safe, but we can send $40 billion to bail out Argentina.

Make it make sense.

I’m old enough to remember when we had a system of checks & balances that involved Congress, when Congress controlled the purse and legislated, and the president respected the Constitution & rule of law. I’m old enough to remember when a U.S. president wouldn’t want to be King George or a dictator.

AOC: And they are able to radicalize a generation of young boys in particular, away from healthy masculinity and into an insecure masculinity that requires the domination of others who are poorer, browner, darker, or a different gender than them.

ABOLISH ICE and EXPAND THE SUPREME COURT should be mainstream Democratic promises and talking points.

But timidity and civility will rule the day and screw the rest of us and this country in the end.

Trump and Speaker Johnson think that destroying our health care and jacking up the cost of groceries is about hurting Democrats.

It’s not. It’s about hurting and punishing the American people.

Except its not new. This is the rhetoric I heard at my all white, suburban, private, boys catholic college prep school decades ago.

Except now they got their inheritance, nepo college & job placement and unearned, unqualified positions of power in government.

I think two things are true:

1. young republicans were always terrible and racist

2. young republicans become openly hitler-loving groypers is in fact a new and alarming development that is worth paying attention to

All the edgy sneering about "representation" was a way to ironize and therefore obscure the complaint that someone not white was being hired to do a job.

The Supreme Court’s majority right wing indicated in oral arguments that they think racism is over on the same day that the vice president defended the “I love Hitler” guy, and that the NYT reported that the current administration plans to accept only white, English-speaking refugees.

Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts.
We all complain about the media, but need this type of in-depth journalism.

the extent to which media elites treat liberal americans as if they do not count in the body politic is a real problem

I read the piece. You shouldn't. He dismisses the "No Kings" protests as liberals in blue cities. He invokes Rosa Parks, as if rural white people in the 60s loved everything that the movement then was doing. "We need a movement but not this one" is a core centrist tact these days.
