The skyrocketing price of Halloween costumes may not affect many Trump supporters as they favor their traditional evening garb of a simple white robe and a hood.
Halloween store owner speaks out about the impact of Trump's tariffs on his business:

"This year has been particularly challenging. Most of the costumes and accessories all come from China... Some of the more exclusive or high-end costumes might be as much as $20-30 more."

Seconding this and adding that it really is that bad in terms of the lack of marketing for BIPOC authors esp. And as bad as it is in adult, it's worse in YA and kidlit.

This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system.

I am not fearful — I am fearless.

How to be an informed, pro-library, anti-book ban voter in upcoming fall elections (if you have them) and well into the future.

Don't just celebrate banned books. Don't just read banned books. VOTE to support the democratic institutions creating access to them.

Thread. In short, after 15 years, t he ACA has joined Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security as a bedrock law of the land they have to pretend to care about.

They’re still trying to gut it of course, but they can no longer pretend it’s a temporary anomaly.
John Thune is nervous. He just spread a bunch of lies on @pbsnewshour but I noticed one thing in particular: He reassured the audience that the underlying structure of ACA would be intact. He's lying. But I don't think I've heard a Republican make a promise about ACA like that before. Have you?

Kerry James Marshall’s Untitled (Underpainting) reimagines the museum as both subject and metaphor. Using a Renaissance technique of burnt umber underpainting, Marshall creates a glowing, unfinished surface that echoes William J. Wilson’s "Afric-American Picture Gallery."

It is Banned Books Week.

The Bluest Eye was my first novel by Toni Morrison. It is beat up and the pages are yellow but still one of my all time favorites.

What is your best banned book?
